A revolution needs to have broad-based support from a unified coalition to form a considerable majority. Actual communists, socialists and social democrats support Bernie. If a communist revolution was to happen, Bernie would obviously be the most famous leader to unify the left (as in the leftists, not moderate Democrats) together. He also identified himself as a "democratic socialist". Perfect.

It won't be a communist revolution, more like civil war.

They allow wealth accumulation, just with higher taxes - but also with things like universal healthcare, free university education, strong trade unions and the like.

Communism doesn’t work on a mass scale - no, it works - just look at some kibbutz. However, these are much smaller communities than the US. You’ll also need to make it democratic - which risks throwing out communism at the first election - otherwise, you could end up with Stalinist or Maoist thinkers running the show. Plus, there are no guidebooks - you can’t take elements from “communist” states like China, Cuba or the USSR - even the good. Why? Because these are all highly centralised states - which runs parallel to the idea of America, or ironically, communism itself.

He's not really a social democrat though. I would argue that his proposed 90% marginal tax rate and banning of charter schools are even more radical than the Scandinavian countries. Sweden, for example, has some of the most neoliberal reforms that would make Milton Friedman blush: School choice, privatization of public monopolies and social security, abolition of inheritance tax, etc.

What then should we call it when our fine progressives get the police to abandon their posts but the replacement is ethnic militias/gangs allowed to brutalize their enemies? A total collapse of the system? If order has to be maintained by Mexican gangs going after Black people, what should we call it? Better yet, for the fine people demanding the police be abolished, is it better to have your head caved in by the McPolice or a gang versus a blue uniform?

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. The entire anti-government crowd remained pretty fucking silent over these protests and the abuse of the government towards them.
