... that's not the Indo-European symbol. Mind you it's based on one, but that design is pure Nazi.

The Indo-European symbol is just, well it looks like a wheel with a + sign on the center.

The White Nats do use that one too at times. Probably because it's easier to spray paint.

I don't think they are nazis. They have every right to bring an actual swastika, so why a quasi-religious symbol that is so ambiguous?

To get people like us to pay attention to them, that's why. We're being trolled.

What, exactly, is ambiguous about this?

A number of far-right groups and individuals have utilised the symbol in their propaganda, including the Christchurch mosque shooter, Australian neo-Nazi group Antipodean Resistance, and Ukrainian far-right National Guard regiment Azov Battalion.[11] The symbol was displayed by members of several extremist groups involved in the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.[12]

The Black Sun (German: Schwarze Sonne) is a Nazi symbol, a type of sun wheel (German: Sonnenrad)[1][2] employed in a post-Nazi Germany context by neo-Nazis and some occult subcultures, such as Satanism.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it might be a Satanist.

Very first line of your source, jeez.

If they were neo-Nazis and they wanted everyone to know about it, they'd have brought a Swastika. No ambiguity in that.
If they were neo-Nazis and they only wanted other neo-Nazis to know, they'd have brought something more obscure.
I conclude that they are trolls, who want attention without coming out for Nazism OR for Satanism.

Alternatively, they might be betting on centrists defending the use of a specific symbol, thus trolling the centrists while also dispalying their nazi iconography to everyone in the know.

Or you're being a mark for them, leaning in hard on the "but it might not be". Unless you want to explain away the "Nationalist Social Club" shirts, swastika tattoos and such as well.

I don't think it's really generalising to comment on the fact that some specific individuals within a certain profession hold certain political beliefs.

Keep in mind far right and Nazi iconography varies from country to country in Europe. For example, here, the symbol most neo nazis use is the Tor rune used by the Vikings. In other parts of Europe, the far right uses ancient Celtic symbols, and of course in Italy the Fasces is used.

I'd much rather not have to defend their right to use the symbol. I'd much rather nobody had even brought it up.

Now I see that they're members of the Nationalist Social Club I'm even more certain we're being trolled. My last word.

Due process? I am not a court of law, I am not bound by the standards set for a criminal conviction. Besides, being a fascist is not a crime.

However, I'm not calling all cops fascists. I'm saying that some cops are fascists, which is undeniable. Far right groups have infiltrated many law enforcement agencies in the US.

Generalizing would easily be seen as trolling here, so it's important to specify that there are some police officers in the US who are not aligned with nazis.

If it's not a crime, why does it matter?

Because not all bad things are criminal, and not all things that are criminal are bad.

Is your morality enitrely based on what is and isn't legal at a particular point in time? Does your view of morality change when the law does?

Why does what not matter? The fact that there are right wing groups infiltrating law enforcement agencies? I would say that matters quite a bit even if it isn't a crime per se.
