I dont see the link between cops fearing for their lives and them tasing two college students in Atlanta after smashing their car windows out.

Clearly those students were guilty of existing in front of an officer of the law.

A minor correction here - the Afrikaner camps were not death camps. They were holding camps, to deprive the Boer guerrillas of support in their fight against Britain - which through inaction and poor planning led to a lot of deaths. But no, they did not have any apparatus within them with which it was meant to kill the populace.

Inb4 - but they’re the first camps ever! They inspired the Nazis! No. They were created around the same time as the concentration camps in the Philippines during the Philippine-American War. Though never nation knew of the other’s, they both followed the same basic premise.

Which the Nazis then took. And made a whole level more horrific - like the original camps weren’t bad enough.

My point is that people hear these stories of police brutality and they make the generalisation that the whole police force is like that. They don't stop to consider the policemen who are helpful, who do work to stop racism and who are on the receiving end of violence and anger because of the reputation of the police force, often down to a few extremist acts. Have some sympathy for your average police officer who has nothing to do with brutality or murder, who just wanted to help protect YOU from crime. It's not their fault. They aren't necessarily racists or excessively brutal.

Here’s the bodycam from the side I’m describing. You’ll probably have the other side on the videos sidebar. Like, the cop even says the guy can’t go anyway, when he’s running to him. Yet he yeets him from the car for no reason.

Near where I used to live there was a guy who lived in this very old house. Not quite tudor but only a century or so off. Anyway, the local council finally got round to slapping a preservation order on it, but trouble was it was after he bought the place and before he had time to rip out and replace the astoundingly ugly 70's formica kitchen. He's probably stuck with it forever.

Well, I'm hoping the local council or whoever has jurisdiction over the statue has the sense not to put it back up.

The entirety of the police don’t have to do these things in order for them to be complicit. Not speaking up about it makes them just as bad.

People don't respect the police as much as they should, and then start asking the police to be kinder to them. Respect goes both ways, you know.

Although I personally understand why people generally hate fox, I highly recommend watching cnn or msnbc; you'll soon learn to appreciate the honesty of "commentators" on fox as they don't try to disguise propaganda and infotainment.

The reason we have police isn't just to enforce the law but also to protect rights. Mob justice will not be nearly as fair as you might imagine, it was the study of justice and the law are so prolific in this country.

The police are doing an absolutely fantastic job of protecting people's constitutional rights these days.

There is some room for improvement, obviously, but it will always be easier to fix a broken system then build a new one.
