I wouldn be surprised. Unless it reignites for some reason it may already have experienced it's peak on the night of 1st to 2nd january. The decisive phase appears to be over.

The protesting, rioting and looting has been quite intense, most people probably experience fatigue at this point too.

I except frequent demonstrations though for the future and a generally turbulent political climate in the future. A lot of people who weren't into politics are now gotten dragged in. Like a lot of the people in general. This goes beyond partisanship or the regular political sphere. Thats something new, like an entire additional part of society and the population been having activated.

They will not forget themself, their friends being beaten up by police or seeing those things on national TV. Or the looting. etc

And why wouldn't you even try to help the man you've just injured afterwards?

Not trying to defend the cops but I have enough first aid training to know that anything I do to help a person with an injury like that would be wrong.

Best to leave head trauma to actual medics and in the video I can hear one of the cops saying that EMS are already at the scene.

Didn't give him a right to do the chokehold on an already handcuffed and subdued dude for gods know how much. If only this cop acted more civilzied and put restrained suspect in his car... it wouldn't end like this.

I've seen one news article now about someone being visited after posting video of a protest, and one video reportedly of a visit from cops over having posted about a protest happening later. Also seen that a reporter was pulled over for investigating something police-related. I imagine that's what they're gonna keep doing, at a bare minimum.

Can we get a source on the chokehold? As I’m picturing a martial arts technique - and not what George Floyd’s killers did. There wasn’t any damage to his neck or I believe, loss of blood to the brain either. And while there was a loss of oxygen, that was through positional asphyxia, not a chokehold.

I’m not doubting the cops killed him - I just don’t see how what they did was a chokehold. Though, the definition could well be any action which restricts blood or air flow by one person to another.
