But it's still crime, no?

Sure. And it should be prosecuted. As should many other crimes that are committed in all fifty states.

But you're essentially saying "Did you know that people can CHEAT ON THEIR TAXES in certain states?"

Uh yeah. We should prosecute those people. And btw it's all states.

Because it says it eliminates "illegal" and "aliens" from laws, and it does not? It simply makes it illegal for landlords, employers and others to call someone an illegal and threaten to call ICE on them out of hate and bigotry.

I wonder how many legal residents will lose stuff as a result of this. After all, they are noncitizens.

"People commit crimes sometimes" is not really a compelling "sky is falling" situation. If I went around screaming that people can cheat on their taxes in Illinois, so what?

Yeah, people who commit crimes should be prosecuted. But by all measurements, it's small, on the edges, and something that should be handled by law enforcement not by massively upending the system.

Some time ago, New York City passed a law that "alien" and "illegal immigrant" will no longer become the the term used to define people who have entered the US illegally. The new term shall now be "non-citizen."

What do you guys say about this? Opposed, For, or in between? Do you have any more info about this?

I'm am against this, soon they're gonna be called better people. They are illegal and should have less rights, unless they become legal, of course.

That's my opinion, what's yours? :)

Your objection to this lacks any substance. This does not give them more (or less) rights, so you're left with being against it just because...

Anyway, it might make legal documents more accurate. I haven't seen any examples of how it would look after any changes were made, so it's hard to be opposed.

So what you are saying, that they are not erasing the term "illegal immigrant", but they are making every "illegal immigrant" to be same as every legal non citizens? That would mean that these people automatically have same rights as legal non citizens (for example, au pairs, students, workers etc)

Less than 1 year ago.

I remember this case. I also remember the post I made on it:

Galloism wrote:If this guy was out to murder someone, he must be a hell of a trick shot:

B. Other Physical Evidence
The day after the shooting, the San Francisco Police Department recovered a
handgun from the water near Pier 14. The gun was a SIG SAUER P239. Officers found
no rags or t-shirts in the water or on the pier.
After learning the bullet recovered from Ms. Steinle’s body bore evidence of
having hit a hard object, San Francisco Police Officer John Evans returned to Pier 14 to
look for a possible bullet strike in the area. Officers located a small indentation in the
cement walkway which was an apparent strike mark. Evans determined the bullet strike
mark was about 12 to 15 feet away from where defendant was seated and about 78 feet
from Ms. Steinle’s location on the pier.

...

A defense firearms expert, James Norris, testified the gun lacked an external safety
mechanism and confirmed a SIG SAUER P239 could accidentally discharge if it were in
single-action mode. Norris opined the gun likely fired while defendant was seated,
probably while he was bent over, and that “[i]t somehow discharged, ricocheted, [and]
unfortunately struck the victim.” According to Norris, the “weapon seemed to be pointed
down towards the ground. It was near the ground and pointed down towards the ground.
In that position, it would be extremely difficult for a person to aim . . . .” A second
defense expert in firearms and unintentional discharges, Alan Voth, opined that if an
operator of a firearm discharged a single bullet from a seated position, it struck the
ground 12 feet away, the ground was concrete, and the bullet ricocheted from that
location and traveled 78 feet before striking a person in the lower back, that would
indicate an unintentional discharge. Defendant’s video enhancement expert, Paul Endo,
reviewed the surveillance footage of Pier 14 on the day of the shooting and testified,
among other things, that defendant was bending down about 20 seconds before the
shooting.5

I think I can see why the jury didn't really buy the murder charge. I will take any of you out to a nice concrete slab I have from a building that is no longer there, setup a target 90 feet away from you, and let you try to hit the target by ricocheting it off the concrete slab. If you do it, I'll buy you a steak dinner.

Offer still stands, btw.

Anyway, yes "illegal immigrants are just like legal immigrants, citizens, tourists, and everyone else and sometimes commit crimes" isn't really news to us nor a "sky is falling" moment.
Venicilian: wow. Jesus hung around with everyone. boys, girls, rich, poor(mostly), sick, healthy, etc. in fact, i bet he even went up to gay people and tried to heal them so they would be straight.
