Border Tensions between China and India flare up

In the general cascade of fuckery that is 2020, China and India (as well as Pakistan and Nepal, by proxy), are seeing large deployments of troops in the scale of the thousands as routine border scuffles have escalated. Though no shots have been fired, the situation could easily spiral out of control.
For some background info, the border area of the Himalayas and their plateau is disputed by all three countries, but nobody particularly wants to go to war over them-unless they think they can win. China seems to be taking advantage of India’s expanding coronavirus outbreak in order to “bully” them into pulling back without risking outright war. This is not the only general expansionary stance China has taken of late, but it is definitely the one with the greatest potential for catastrophe.
So, NSG, will this end up like WWI, where events spiraled out of the control of leaders who only wished for moderate gains? Or will cooler heads prevail, and peace be maintained?

Both sides are withholding most of the information, the Indians said "They are incurring into our normal patrol points."
The fistfight was tense, but it isn’t much more than that

Agreed. I personally hope things don’t get too hot over in that region, given both Zhongguo and Bharat are nuclear powers.

Please. Most of the things that have happened this year, minus Coronavirus are normal. Seriously, if minor earthquake happens, doomers are all like "oh look 2020 terrible no"

NSG never says war will happen. Certain NSGers predict war will happen, and are often incorrect.
But with the PRC anything goes. The CCP doesn't listen to reason. They do what they want and the more they get away with, the bolder they get.

Fuck it, who knows anymore. Feels like the writers of the 21st century got cancelled by the network early and were told to just "wrap everything up for the final episode, 2020." Lazy writing, way too much going on to fulfill an arc, if I'm being honest.

Something interesting, the Indian Army is now actually larger than the PRC Army.
The PRC with its demographic problems and shifting people to its navy (which would be of limited use here obviously) to challenge Taiwan, Japan and the US has left the PRC increasingly overstretched.
The PRC is making a big mistake here. They cannot challenge India, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan and the US all at the same time and hope to win.
