But it would be fair to compare the last three years of Obama with the first three years of Trump. The economy under Trump comes out better, by less than half a point of GDP growth. It's not a huge deal, but the difference is there:
Obama

Trump
2017 ..... 2.4%
2018 ..... 2.9%

If you want to go into why, it wouldn't be anything Trump did. But it doesn't get us anywhere, since the fairly good economy late in Obama's term wasn't anything he did either. The economy is mostly a force unto itself, neither the President nor the Congress ever do much besides intervene in recessions.
Presidents and Congress can make economies get worse.
