It is a necessary evil this ban. Seeing as in most cases it is enforced and thus violating of woman's rights we should ban it, even if we are infringing upon those who want to personally wear it.

If the Muslim community at large won't reform itself then I'm grudgingly willing to let the government step in and yank them about.

Hopefully in a couple of decades, of hell, maybe a century or two, when the Muslim community attaches as much male and female equality as Christians do to relationships after dragging themselves out of the Victorian era then we can repeal the ban. Then the only people who will wear it are those that sincerely wish to.

I accept that this is likely to offend some, but, the way I see it, if a person grows a beard, their eyes, ears and nose are still clearly visible, and it's very unlikely that two people are going to have eyes, ears, and noses in the same proportion and relative position; one can still say with relative certainty that person x is so-and-so, especially if, when you call him in, he has a new beard. With a mesh veil over the eyes and cloth over the rest of you, it's impossible to tell who you are. If you don't know who people are because of the way they dress, that's a problem, I think. Personally, I'd support any Act banning headwear that obscured more than half a person's face, on the grounds of security.

Fully accepting that, like many of my beliefs, it's likely to cause offence, that's my opinion.
