And, I don't think there is one unifying goal for all of mankind.

We're born, we move around a bit, we die. If you believe in an afterlife, there's that.

That said, I think one thing humanity should be striving to do is to undo the damage to the planet (as space colonisation is theoretical at best), that we can continue progressing technologically and socially, in a more responsible way.

Now, whether that will ever happen... there, I am more doubtful.

What is the ultimate, final goal of mankind? What is the last and greatest thing we can accomplish? And what happens if and when it's done?
Don't know. I barely find goals for myself. I'm not future or goals oriented person. All i do is just living, remembering, feeling, thinking, imagining. In part of my life my goal was to educate. In other, travel. My personal goal is to just be myself. So no mask, no pretend to be someone, who i am not, "act" as others want or think that some kind of acting is MUST (i often feel bad in churches, because i don't feel "ritual stuff". Or dancing. Or many social activities.). Also, i don't think that term "goals" is accurate, because it is rather something from my deepest deep, but since puberty i was searching someone to love deep, romantically, to end of my life. Not shallow "love", or shallow attraction that blank due to time. Not forced one. It was like - i'm looking for that "special one to love". It's different from "procreation of species goal". It's nice when it's possible to make family with children, whoever it is not always possible or it's risky. But if making child is priorities, then "love" doesn't matter much or at all to some peoples. Others can search someone for money or status, or look or any other stuff. And if one of that "stuff" disappear than what bond will last. Look will be gone, money isn't permanent, status or reputation can be ruined, child can be not born, sex can be unsatisfactory, families and connection can dissapear due to time. And you can find any others more or less shallow reasons.

I personally feel the ultimate 'goal' of humanity will likely be to achieve, as you put it, an absolute state of pleasure.

I've often felt that such a goal may provide the answer to the Fermi Paradox. Imagine if we were to upload our minds into a digital space, creating our own personal paradises in which we can spend an eternity (i.e simulated reality), it would make the real world look unimaginably dull and uninteresting in comparison.

Perhaps we see no evidence of aliens since, once they've found a way to achieve this goal, they have no desire to expand outwards into the empty expanse of space beyond acquiring resources to expand or power their hardware that hosts an entire civilisation of countless digitised consciousnesses?

I dunno, pleasure for its own sake seems a rather empty goal, especially if we have to reject reality in order to achieve it.

I thing also, that pleasure or happiness or fun are empty goal as own sake.
I don't need digital space or eternity. If i want to "dive" i have my imaginations, or books, or simply experiencing world. Don't need paradise. Especially "digital".

This statement is rather unfortunate, because "different people". Eg. someone want to be punished, or eradicate by others, so due to this word, that person can think to do the same things to others.

Divide Earth's average net energy production by the population, and you get a few kilowatts per person (that is, kilojoules per person-second). Simulating peoples' brains could make them just as happy for far less than the real-world resources we need now, and we'd be able to do it for a lot more people than otherwise, no? How much of an efficiency multiplier would you need to break even?

Somehow i don't like that "efficiency" view. Looking only from that perspective, make lives somehow like thing, like something, what doesn't matter and looks like others calculated numbers eg. when someone calculate lives of others to money... Next, what if simulated people know, that they live in simulation and don't wont to live in simulation, because it isn't "real" but "simulated" and faked?
