Not only can the sort of change you're describing not happen in evolution, it would actually disprove evolution if it did happen.

I don't think so. I believe religion is slowly becoming less relevant as more and more people become atheist, worldwide. The number of religious people, especially in my country, the UK, is falling significantly. I believe it will get to the stage one day, that religion here is irrelevent and that it won't be taught in schools.

Sure. Mix atheist parents with their children. What do you get, a good amount of the time? Atheist children. I am an Atheist myself, I was brought up in a Protestant household. Protestant, mostly because my grandmother was from Northern Ireland and my grandfather Scottish. My grandfather is religious, just doesn't care about it and my grandmother is very religious. My grandfather is also a veteran of The Troubles and served in Germany, too. That, I would say, plays a rather important factor with my mother, who is also religious and Protestant. Everyone my age that I know is atheist or doesn't believe in God. Sure, some do, however 95% of people I know, or around that are atheist.

I think religion would be important in school because it is like learning LOTE (language other than English) which helps boost thought and has been proven to make students smarter and they learn another language. It is a bit like that + you learn a religion which you can teach others, believe in yourself and if students really don’t want to do it, they shouldn’t need to as it is abusive to teach religion they don’t believe in.

Anyways, back to teaching religion in schools, which is once again a hard no. Unless it's for historical and secular purposes. You can't teach something in school if you can't prove it.
