Yeah, but considering many of the residents of Versailles, Illinois and Versailles, Indiana and Versailles, every-other-US-state-probably often don't bother pronouncing it the right way, I can't really see those arguments being realistic. They could be, though.

Yeah, felt stupid having typed all that out and forgotten that people name things after other things. It just seems that towns that name themselves after other more famous towns aren't exactly destined for greatness. It's not like Paris, Illinois is a center of world events and arts & culture.
