Replace "god" with "girl," instead.

"I am a girl, boy."

"We're girls! That means we can do whatever we want!"

"There are consequences to killing a girl!"

Being a man means being older than the point in a male's life that whatever society he is in has decided to place the boundary of boyhood and manhood. Manhood comes with no qualities that can be definitely attached to it.

I go for medium rare or rare myself depending on the cut. I will say nothing else about our manly POTUS who eats his well-done with ketchup. My problem is I err on the side of caution and get bitched at when I grill for the steak being "too bloody".

Honestly if someone like to eat their steak well done with ketchup, then more power to them. Some people eat the whole steak raw. The point is that a man is measured by how he treats his meat.

Manhood is a social role. That's why we call it manhood and not malehood. Or adultness.

I disagree. Being a man isn't a social role. Men can choose to adhere to that role, but they can choose not to. Adhering to it might make you a good man in your society's eyes, but not a man.

Maturity is definitional to manhood.

The fact that a body can choose to be nonconformist isn't an argument against the existence of social roles.

Firstly, of course men can be immature. It happens all the time and you can look up the real definition of man. It says nothing about maturity. As for your nonconformist point, what would you say a grown adult male is who does not conform to those social roles? I'd still call them a man regardless of their behaviour.

Social roles exist and men and women are expected to conform to them, sure, but if men, in this case, do not, they still remain a man. Others might call them less of a man because of this, but saying that is a shaming tactic that is meant to get men to conform. It does not actually make a man suddenly not a man.

No. There's no such thing as a "true man," or any definition of "manhood" that could possibly encapsulate all men. As the OP observes, whenever you devise one definition, there are always people who fall through the cracks.

Agreed.

No one fights like Gaston
Douses lights like Gaston
In a wrestling match nobody bites like Gaston
When I hunt, I sneak up with my quiver
And beasts of the field say a prayer
First I carefully aimed for the liver
And I shot from behind
Is that fair?
I don't care

Matches wits like Gaston
