In all honesty it's BS. Being a man isn't about how much brisket you eat, you many trees you chop down, how many trucks you own, etc.
What is being a man then? Being a man is protecting people, caring for people, and overall being a good influence on your community. Helping those who need it, standing up for those who can't stand up for themselves, that's a real man, I don't care what people say. I'm not looking at how many trucks you own to see how big of a man are, I'm looking at how you act.

...nothing could happen to me that had not happened to all men before me. Whatever I had to do men had always done. If they had done it then I could do it too and the best thing was not to worry about it.

At least, that is what many people say. Seriously, what does it mean to be a man? Do you have to do all those things? Do you have to be insensitive or can you have a heart? Personally I know many men who believe in equality in relationships, aren't heterosexual, drive cars or use public transport, have cats, don't drink or smoke, have no guns, have hearts, and don't eat much red meat if any.
I myself have always preferred equality in my friendships and relationships, have a heart, am asexual, prefer ferrets and cats over dogs, don't drink alcohol much, have no guns, and don't smoke. Add that with the fact that I am 5'3" and have a rather androgynous appearance that has often led me to me being mistaken for a girl, I certainly don't fit the stereotypical image of manliness.
To me, the whole notion of a "true man" is nothing more than a piece of sexist bullshit that should have been left in the 1980's. But what about you? Do you think that the "true man" notion has any merits today? Or do you see it as a different meaning?

Congrats, you're a man.

So, by not being a Catholic saint I am automatically disqualified from manliness?
