Two DAs in fact. The second one also believed "we thought he was involved in the recent string of burglaries" was a perfectly valid excuse, despite there not having been a string of burglaries.

It's good these guys are finally facing consequences after months of basically being allowed to get away with a homicide.

Wel, perhaps it was not homicide. We still do not have all the facts.
But from what we do have there at least should have been an investigation.

We know it was a homicide, a human killing another human. We have yet to determine whether it was murder under Georgia law or not.

A homicide is the killing of a person. Indisputably this was a homicide, unless you are proposing that Arbery was shot but survived and then somehow died for entirely unrelated reasons.

The shot could have come from the grassy knoll !

But you are all right. It is homicide, but unknown if it is a crime.

We know that it was homicide based on the video. "Homicide" just means killing a person.

Whether it is murder or manslaughter remains to be decided by a court of law.

I'm surprised that one of the suspects of the killing was a former cop. He did not act professionally at all.

That's not the way to handle this.

Agreed, but it’s become rather common for that to happen on social media when crimes like this one, among others, come to light.

Indeed. One of the reasons my dad retired when he did and took early retirement was because he was tired of rooting out hot heads and trying to hold them accountable. He headed the Sheriff's department, and the amount of "favors" the local government and DA pulled for hotheads and irresponsible officers in the PD gave him no end of frustration, and made him pretty much zero friends. He actually actively rooted these people out in his own department, and didn't give them any favors if they acted inappropriately. He was well hated by a lot of people, but well respected by the local populace.

The fact this wasn't investigated is also not surprising. From what I read, it seems some strings were pulled by some of his friends in high places that persuaded the responding officers to not arrest him on scene and investigate it further.

Not only that but they had the gall to call the victim's mother and tell her he was caught burgling a house and the homeowner had shot him, which they must have known to be simply untrue. Even the bullshit fed to them didn't tally with this account.

That's how arrogant they were, it's literally getting away with murder.

Ga. attorney general asks DOJ to investigate handling of Arbery killing. The question of why the killers weren't arrested until after this became a public uproar is now going to be a federal case.

The man that got shot was caught on CCTV stealing from several houses in the neighborhood for several nights. He was found 20 miles away from where he actually lived, so the whole "he was just going for a jog" that I keep hearing people say is total bull. The father and son tried to confront and apprehend him, the thief resisted and tried to grab their gun, they fired in self defense.

Says who? Breitbart?

Its funny how this is such clear cut self defense that the two shooters are in jail in Georgia, a place that is very pro second amendment.

Even if everything you say is true, they had no authority to arrest Arbery.
