It isn't my fault that I came to inherit it but I'm nonetheless the best person there is to look after it where I live for the time being. The alternative is that is goes outside of a locked closet and the wrong hands maybe takes it. The intention is to sell to a reputable gun dealer if I eventually can't look after it anymore- such as if it is the case that I go homeless.

Meh, regardless, racist dosn't mean dangerous, there are way more "racist" people walking around than people realize. Such a law could easily be abused as well.

No, it'd be more of a crime to destroy that equipment. Someone else can have a use for it, even if it became police equipment or in a private collection only the richest and most well connected politically can access. Its also true that I can't sell to just anyone- just to make this clear. I won't risk bringing about any straw purchases. I'm no more likely to shoot anyone than anybody else. The legal system being involved in my life is more and not less hassle for me. And hassle in general, is what I'm loathe to bring about unnecessarily.

I don't hate police, but I don't like them either. These are people who're just doing a job more often than not, and to maybe be extra wary of, if you have to interact with them at all. The less you tell, the better generally speaking- if the state wants to shake you down, from what many lawyers say. Both police and criminals can be troublesome from my perspective.

The military on the other hand, you can and probably should always work with. The one exception being if its a hostile/invading force. Even though the US constitution doesn't allow the quartering of troops in private homes, I'd be happy to lend them my structure if the situation called for that. I usually find the US military and federal law enforcement to be more fair/trustworthy than anything state/local.

The police have an incentive to close cases, and the legal system is biased in the state's favor to the point where police can use helpful honest statements by a person who has not committed a crime to effect an arrest of that person.
