Isn't that entirely reasonable to you, though? That Democrats should slavishly defend Biden while condemning Kavanaugh for exactly the same thing, since they are Proud Democrats who think Biden will Make America Great Again?

Should the claim be investigated? Sure. Just as the 14-16 claims against trump.

It’s not going to happen though. The trumpests like it for the political points. Wouldn’t mind it if it did happen through other means. They don’t want an investigation just because of their leader and what it could mean for him.

I will say that nobody really cares about the truthfulness of these claims. Just the letter after the accused's name. I'd say it's a sad indictment of our political system, but it's about what we should expect at this point.

It's worth noting that while Trump's allies hound Biden for the allegations, Trump himself has taken a more conciliatory tone, which is a strange thing to see. Quoting from Politico here;

If they proceed with Biden, they will lose any an all moral high ground and can expect to lose the electorate yet again. Have they not learned from their mistakes?

Well, it wasn't an unreasonable allegation when Trump was launching an unreasonable investigation for blatantly partisan purposes like Trump did in his negotiations with Ukraine. But this is a different situation. For one thing, this is a purely domestic affair and doesn't involve bullying a foreign ally. Furthermore, rape is a different crime: more serious, but also harder to investigate. And finally this is something that many Democrats are concerned about and not just obviously phony scandal made up by Trump and his cronies out of the blue. But I think the investigation would better be treated as a bipartisan cooperation for the good of the country rather than a ploy to take down a political opponent. In fact, I think we need rape investigations against both Biden and Trump.
