You don't have to use the exact words. Demanding the economy reopen business as usual before it's confirmed coronavirus is tapering down will have that effect.

We'll see. There may be a vaccine before then (as usual you have seized on a pessimistic estimate). As to the unis, they can lump it. They're mostly owned by the government, they'll do what they're told.

Yeah, you can tell Google not to but won't stop you being tracked. Turn off bluetooth AND wireless when you leave the house, because they both send out a unique number which other phones (that more promiscuous information users have installed certain aps on) report back to the ap developer. Probably to Google too.

This is where it really gets scary for people who are afraid of government tracking. Google is a huge company which makes it's money knowing things about the users, yet somehow that doesn't bother the anti-government people. They're not even bothered that Google will sell information, they're all "government should get a warrant" and they haven't read the contracts they ticked OK to. The scary bit? It's not just Google. They don't know who actually made half the aps on their phone. It could be government. It could be China's government. It could be fucking anybody.

The bottom line is: if you don't want to be tracked by government, leave your phone at home.

Turn Google off. Okay, the SIM card will still ping the closest tower (because that's how mobile phones work), and from there, the government will at least know the general vicinity of where you're located.

HELPFUL TIP- If you live in Australia and you call 000, if you're in a situation where you can't talk, you press 55 and they'll send cops over. This is something I've heard but can't confirm the accuracy

That's certainly damning, though I think it's worth noting that while his work might have made some worst-case scenario presumptions, it did convince a lot of leaders and people alike to consider the idea of social distancing.

He made a mistake, and he's not the holy grail of virus researchers, but I don't think he deserves to be shamed for this.

Well Australian rePublic unironically thinks that colds have only existed for a century or so, which is far worse.

That's a good explanation. Keeping secrets from your wife might have been a bad sign, but presents should of course be secret!

I also hate to use credit cards, only do it when I have to spend online. Likewise EFTPOS, I prefer cash. Not fear so much, rather I am stingy and don't like to give away information for nothing. Information is worth money to companies, they should offer me a discount or something if they want it from me.

Hmm, actually "points" on a loyalty card are a kind of payment for information. Annoyingly indirect though.
