I'm sure that crossed the Physician's mind, but what can he do? His "patient" can not only fire him, but also bust him down in the military.

Physicians to the President have traditionally been recruited from the military. It's not looking like a good idea now.

There's actually a bunch of modern medicines which are suspected of causing birth defects. They can't ethically be tested for that (fetus can't give consent) so they're just Not Recommended for pregnant women.

How long would be prudent in your view? How many tens of millions of people will take it before you think "OK, that's safe enough for me" ..?

That one was for giving it to people who are already severely ill to try to make them better. This one was for giving it to people who aren't ill yet to try to stop them getting it (the way Trump has been taking it). Different questions, potentially different answers.

EDIT: Sorry, got confused between the two papers that I read today. This one isn't about the way Trump has been taking it. It's about giving it to people who have been exposed to the virus before they develop symptoms to prevent them getting symptoms, rather than taking it pre-exposure, as Trump has been.

You really don't need to worry about the stuff inside the package because it's been so long since it was packed. You only need to be careful about touching the outside of the package when you bring it in, because the delivery driver could have touched it or breathed on it as he was delivering it. If you get the virus from a package, you're getting it from the delivery guy, not the sender.

I’m not taking any risks that could expose myself or my husband. You do you of course. Thank you.

Nanatsu is a She btw. I was referring more to wiping the package (AND contents) down with disinfectant wipes. This is a much more assured way of killing the virus than just waiting.

And you're being disturbingly vague about how long to wait. Does "shipping PROBABLY took so long the viruses are dead" really seem like sound advice to you?

To me it is, exactly. My husband is asthmatic, I’m immunocompromised. My in-laws are at high risk. I’m not taking any chances if I can help it.

He's been tested a couple of times, and the cases close to him have occurred over a couple of months. So no, they aren't catching it from him.

Shitty diagnosis rates, people from areas that haven't had that many cases, and the tendency of cases to cluster in social groups ("people you know" is not a representative sample - if one of them has had it, they've likely given it to at least some of the others, so you're likely to either know lots of people who've had it or none at all).

Or the social distancing is working a little too well; coming from a COVID hotspot (my son and I went through a COVID scare ourselves several weeks back) we didn't know anyone in our condo compound that came down with the virus.
