Hydrochloquine is off patent, so I dont see how trump could make a fortune from it unlike remdesivir, which is. Maybe you should be barking up that tree.

Being off patent still doesn't mean you can’t invest. Granted the amount in the French Company was small and yet he mentioned them.

If Trump was talking about what they are trying; I would be impressed.

That is interesting since it normally takes about a week for people to show symptoms.

And it just makes it plainly obvious again that there is still a lot that we don't know about Coronavirus.

Or it's that Germanys testing regime is massive and widespread. It's likely they are picking up cases before they become symptomatic.

I think it's been known about February that the incubation period of this virus is 7-12 days, up to 24 days. This is not news,it's olds. Moreover, if alveolar lavage fluid is not used as a test, the rate of misdiagnosis is not low. :eyebrow:

It's possible that people got infected before the lockdown eased. Since many immigrants work in essential food processing facilities and live with many immigrants on a small area.

Malaysia has extended its now-partial lockdown by a month, although we can expect restrictions to continue easing over the next couple of weeks as the economy slowly kicks back into gear

PM: Conditional MCO extended until June 9

Published 2:22 pm
Modified 8:18 pm

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today announced that the conditional movement control order (MCO) has been extended from May 12 to June 9.

In a live telecast address, Muhyiddin (above) said the current conditional MCO restrictions, which among others allow for operations of certain economic sectors, will remain in place for the four week period.

"On the advice of the Health Ministry and the National Security Council, I would like to announce that the conditional MCO effective until May 12, will be extended until June 9 or another four weeks," he said.

Muhyiddin said while the government has seen positive developments in its fight against Covid-19, it has yet to fully succeed.

"Measures are still needed to combat this pandemic.

"I also find that the majority want the government to continue to take the appropriate measures in fighting it," he said.

With the conditional MCO's extension, restrictions such as no interstate travel or gatherings remain in place, he said.

Under the existing conditional MCO, some businesses are also not allowed to operate, such as hair salons.

"Any changes to the rules, standard operating procedure (SOP), or the list of sectors that are allowed to operate will be announced later," he said.

The government began winding down the restrictions on May 4 by modifying the MCO into a "conditional MCO".

Most businesses reopened with strict social distancing measures while recreational activities that do not involve groups were also allowed.

The MCO was initially supposed to last two weeks but saw three extensions until May 12.

The number of Covid-19 cases had spiralled shortly before the MCO with three-digit new cases daily.

However, the MCO has allowed the Health Ministry to bring the pandemic under control with two-digit cases daily.

The country recorded 54 new cases in the last 24 hours up to noon yesterday. The highest number of cases was recorded on March 26, at 235.

To date, Malaysia recorded a total of 6,589 Covid-19 cases with 108 deaths.

However, 74.8 percent of patients or 4,929 have since recovered. There are 1,552 patients still in treatment.

The government has since been accused of flip-flopping on the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions. Some have accused PM Muhyiddin of announcing the extension to provide political cover for the one-day parliamentary sitting scheduled for May 18, which is solely intended to satisfy the requirement that Parliament convenes at least once every six months, and also to avoid a No Confidence vote against his unelected, backdoor government, which is widely believed to have a razor-thin majority at most, if at all, as well as to minimize the ability of opposition MPs to scrutinize the government's actions and hold it accountable. The UK Parliament has been convening in a reduced capacity with the UK PM fielding questions from MPs both in the chamber and via video link. PM Muhyiddin has no excuse not to follow suit. Politicians perform an essential function, which is to run the country.

The Health Ministry is aiming to reduce the double-digit daily increase in cases to single digits in the coming weeks, putting us in the same league as Australia and New Zealand. Most of the new cases in recent days were recorded in the state of Negeri Sembilan, and most of these cases involve foreign migrant workers. Now that we finally have the South Korean rapid test kits at our disposal, I'm hoping for the best. So far, the easing of restrictions hasn't resulted in a second wave of infections.

After initially continuing to maintain the previous full lockdown in my home state even after the federal government's Conditional MCO took effect last Monday, the Sarawak state government decided to adopt the federal government's guidelines after all. I'll be going back to work starting tomorrow.

What we have to tell people honestly, what they want to hear, they don’t want it sugarcoated and they don’t want it coated in fear. But somewhere between now and tomorrow, next year, we’re going to see 60 to 70% of Americans ultimately infected with this virus.

Saw this in a recent covid update from the Guardian and I gotta say is HOLY FUCK. That is nightmare fuel right there, if 60 to 70% of America gets COVID, millions may die.

Watched ABC News Australia recently, and judging from the news reports, life appears to have returned almost back to how it was prior to the pandemic, although at least one state is still observing a strict lockdown. Can someone confirm this? This would make Australia the only major Western economy thus far to almost fully contain the virus and bounce back. (New Zealand's even more successful, but it's far too tiny and remote to count as a major economy.)

Germany, Spain, Italy, and Japan are still recovering, France appears to have stalled in its recovery judging from the new cases and active cases Worldometer graphs, and the UK, Canada, and the USA have yet to even show signs of peaking. I expect Japan will be next in line to recover and bounce back from the virus, followed by Germany, then Spain and Italy, and afterward, France. In fact, most of Europe appears to be on the road to recovery, especially Western Europe, with the notable exception of the UK, Russia, and perhaps Sweden? Israel has managed to flatten its curve.

Iran is one country that is experiencing a second wave as a result of easing lockdown restrictions. It looks like Turkey's going the same way? Russia and Brazil are the emerging new hotspots now.

To answer the poll, I don't know anyone that has been diagnosed with the Wuhan virus, but one of my friends thinks she might have had it a couple months ago since the symptoms matched pretty well. She recovered at home.

Well fuck me sideways. I assumed a bacteriophage gobbled up bacteria, and so, must bigger than them. Bigger bacteria.

So I was wrong. Bacteriophages are viruses that attack single cells (bacteria). They're like little pirates.

Still, a virus that attacks bacteria is not a virus that attacks other viruses. That's like pirates fighting each other ... out at sea ... without a ship in sight. How could they do that? WHY would they do that? There's no booty.

Almost everyone I know personally who was diagnosed had mild symptoms and recovered soon after, probably because they're young, healthy adults. From what I know, infants and the elderly are most at risk, luckily none of the elderly folks I know have been diagnosed
