Update on my parents' neighbor:
He was finally admitted to the hospital last night and was put on a ventilator shortly after. Currently stable. His wife and daughters aren't having as advanced symptoms, but they also aren't obese or heavy smokers.

In addition, someone on my client team was tested after checking every COVID symptom box earlier today.

Oh, and my hippie cousin took her kids to Disney over the weekend. She's a nurse.

A new study shows virus immunity in recovered patients may be gone in months.

To break it down, the study looked at healthcare workers and patients from Guy's and St. Thomas’ National Health Service Foundation Trust in London. They found that the antibody count that attacks and destroys the virus quickly declines after peaking several weeks after someone from that facility exhibited symptoms. 60% of patients had a "potent" antibody response at the peak of their fight with COVID-19. However, after two months, that drops significantly to just 16.7% and in some cases, the antibody response to the virus was undetectable.

More will likely come out, but this is not a good sign. That said, the study could help develop a more effective vaccine to ensure that antibodies remain longer in the body though developing a vaccine that you'll need once may seem rather more difficult: it may become like the flu shot. Suffice to say, wear a mask, and don't be careless: we shouldn't let our guard down just yet.

Hopefully it eventually becomes a tetanus shot and this disease becomes so rare that not everyone needs a vaccine.

I would like to see it wiped out worldwide.

Antibody counts over simply the immune system. There are other responses as well that provided immunity called the memory recall response.

In these responses other immune factors such as Tcells that ( that transition from naive to killer after being exposed to an infectious agent) and B cells that produce anitbodies when an infection previously exposed to reoccurs.

For instance with the flu vaccine we know that antibodies only show for 6 months even though immunity is granted for at least a year.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3255945/

We may have to develop a vaccine schedule where the vaccine is administered repetitively over several months to produce immunity like we do with the Anthrax that is not impossible to do.

I assure there is no dilemma that cannot be solved by a disciplined Cardassian mind.

There are huge media and political apparatuses set on convincing people that the corona virus isn't a big deal, it's a hoax, it's more important to get the economy running again, all that shit, and when those massive and powerful organisations are successful at tricking people into believing those things, we blame the people they've tricked. It's kind of weird, once you spell it out, that we all expect ordinary people to consistently outsmart the collective efforts of entire multi-billion dollar industries with thousands and thousands of employees.

One of the female staff members in my store cluster just got tested for it. She turned out negative thankfully but it still pissed me off as i was not told about this by my boss or any other higher ups, i was only informed yesterday during a shift, by a manager that i work with on a regular basis who shares a lot of shifts with her. So if she was positive, i would have been working in close proximity to someone who was working with her for usually 5-7 hours a day.

Honestly thinking of straight up quitting this point, not even handing in a notice. There is no communication in these shops about this kind of stuff, and that on top of the complete failure of precaution enforcement, and the attitude of customers about it is pissing me off.

You would think businesses would want to keep their employees from getting sick. But apparently a simple ¨yo this person is being tested¨ is to hard for those poor higher ups.

Especially when they have been having staff shortages the entire time ive worked here which is almost a year and eight months at this rate. Our neighbouring store cluster has half its staff out so they had to shut down one of their three stores whilst also taking one of the managers from our cluster for a week
