Okay? Is that it? Because I am not seeing much of an issue here other than the fact some people might not be able to go to theaters.

Did I ever say open them? No. I said they can’t make money with social distancing hence why most will likely not reopen until early next year

Of course not, but for the next yearish? Maybe. Half the number of seats available and maybe some theater/opera/concerts/etc can reopen. Have them outside in parks or something.
If there are no concerts/etc for a year it would suck, but people will survive. Its not like an opera singer is going to forget how to sing if they take a year off.

I’d rather they reopen when they can make money and not think about a concept that will bankrupt them. Hopefully broadway survives the pandemic. The economic blow to the city would be beyond ruinous

Well that is not going to be the case for quite some time. I think it much better they open now with restrictions and begin adapting and making money, then staying closed and getting no businesses.

Have you not been listening this whole time! No theatre will make a profit with social distancing.

if that is true(which I doubt) no matter what they are going to be losing money. Better for them to get some businesses rather than none. And honestly I doubt they won't be able to make money. Their are plenty of ways for them to adapt and survive. Drive ins, lowering some salary's, putting on smaller performances with cheaper equipment, do drive ins, stream online. Plenty of ways to make money.

If it was that simple they’d do it

If it was that simple they wouldn't. Executives are greedy regardless of the industry and they'd rather die before lowering their salaries to save their businesses.
For example, I work in a warehouse and I make $13.75 an hour, which is on the lower end of what people in here make since I'm still relatively new. The CEO of my company makes over $20 million a year as his salary and various other executive officers make between $10 to $18 million a year. Our CEO and CFO had the audacity this year to say that we - the warehouse workers - are making too much money.
That's good ol' corporate greed for you, and it sounds like its present in the theatre industry too.

Good riddance really, Black Friday is a menace to society.
