It really wasn't the 'fake news media' which put words in Trump's mouth. He literally did suggest injecting disinfectant or bathing one's insides in sunlight (somehow) as possible treatment options. Both would almost certainly be lethal, for various reasons.

Saying something stupid doesn't invalidate him as a President though, so admitting he fucked up this once isn't going to cost his supporters anything. Unless they see him as infallible or something, in which case they really are just cultists.

If you refuse to accept the concerns raised about Trump, then you would rather see the Presidency tarnished by lack of accountability. Whether you support or oppose a politician, or a leader should not remove the fact that their words and actions have consequences and should be addressed.

I kind of find that hard to believe given there is increasing evidence that backdates the first cases of this virus into late December.
