That's certainly damning, though I think it's worth noting that while his work might have made some worst-case scenario presumptions, it did convince a lot of leaders and people alike to consider the idea of social distancing.

He made a mistake, and he's not the holy grail of virus researchers, but I don't think he deserves to be shamed for this.

He had his mistress come over at least twice while her husband was suspected to have Corona, while telling regular couples that do not live together they were not allowed to see eachother.

Yeah, you can tell Google not to but won't stop you being tracked. Turn off bluetooth AND wireless when you leave the house, because they both send out a unique number which other phones (that more promiscuous information users have installed certain aps on) report back to the ap developer. Probably to Google too.

This is where it really gets scary for people who are afraid of government tracking. Google is a huge company which makes it's money knowing things about the users, yet somehow that doesn't bother the anti-government people. They're not even bothered that Google will sell information, they're all "government should get a warrant" and they haven't read the contracts they ticked OK to. The scary bit? It's not just Google. They don't know who actually made half the aps on their phone. It could be government. It could be China's government. It could be fucking anybody.

The bottom line is: if you don't want to be tracked by government, leave your phone at home.

reminds me recently of the FBI marketing their fitness app on Twitter a couple months ago and everybody going, "lol, nice try guys"

The moral of the story is do more effort and don't be as blatant that its an app run by the fuckin FBI lol

The app was for training to be an FBI agent or police officer so it was more of a recruitment tool. It also included things like billy club strikes and tips like hit the hippie in the temple not the top of the head, temple strikes knock people out and leave less swelling, top of the head strikes tend to keep the person conscious and gives a big welt that leads to million dollar settlements.
