Spend the rest of the day commuting death sentance to life in prison with no chance of parole on a case by case basis and asking Congress to pass a law requiring capital punishment to only be applicable with absolute proof of guilt. 4% of death row inmates are innocent, we can do better.

I'd be surprised that the British republican movement was so successful.

But anyway, given the thread clearly means the United States, I'd propose a massive amount of constitutional amendments: proportional representation for the House of Representatives and amending bicameralism to make it the more powerful chamber, abolition of the electoral college and its replacement with an alternative vote system, an unambiguous constitutional guarantee of an actual welfare state. I'd also try and encourage the Supreme Court to reopen Citizens' United and try and reopen discussion on the Equal Rights Amendment.
