Having worked as a volunteer canvasser in several elections, the idea of me handling other peoples votes makes me incredibly uncomfy.

I most certainly give my ballot to someone else: I don't want someone not to hand it in or change it. I'm surprised it's even legally allowed.

I mean, I doubt anyone I have worked with would knowingly change, or throw away, ballots, but I still would not take such a risk. You never know, in this case negligence can be just as bad as overt ill intent

It certainly is. Indeed, our testing has improved, but the point is, if we had this level of testing earlier, we wouldn't have as many cases or deaths.
