More appropriate would be the military funds being used to build affordable housing. Which, I mean, if the idea of national emergency can be applied to a vague threat of immigration with a solution that addresses the least of it kinda, I'm perfectly okay taking a little bomb money and building some housing for the houseless.

Ah, you're right, that is a better example. I mean, sure, in principle I'd agree with you, but I don't think the president should have this much control over discretionary spending. It should be something that only Congress has power over.

Though this might accidentally make slashing the military budget a bipartisan pass time, if it's going to be used as a slush fund for the president's miscellaneous projects that won't get past Congress.

Bummer. Still I feel fairly good about the Roberts court.

If it had been foreign aid money (or similar) which Trump took, more Wall would be a political coup for him. Since it's military money though, I think it rather cancels out. Getting out a few anti-immigrant votes but losing some military supporters.

You could say the same thing about the reaction to John Lewis's passing. Cain died to the very thing he was encouraging people not to take seriously and endangering many more lives in the process. That's not a card you want to pull.
