that being said, I think it's a bit over the top for Twitter to label a very obvious meme as "Manipulated Media".

Just gives Trump more ammunition to claim that he's being repressed by the Media. Don't give him unnecessary ammo.

Twitter did the right thing.

Sure, dunking on the orange man because it feels good is doing the right thing when it furthers an alt-right narrative and give it ammo.

If Twitter did the right thing it would cease to exist.

Again, by taking it THIS seriously, you are playing into their narrative of being repressed and treated unfairly.

Pointing out when Trump is bullshitting is unfair repressive treatment?

When it's incredibly obvious that it's meant as satire/a meme, it sure looks that way.

Perhaps you should say something about Trump then, rather than just kicking the can at us.

Any thoughts on why his campaign included inverted red triangles in their now-deleted Facebook posts?

Ah yes, the "it's just a joke" / "it's just a meme" defence.

I've yet to speak to anyone who saw that tweet and thought to themselves,
"Yes, this is a legitimate attempt by Trump to defame the CNN through doctored propaganda."

If I had to guess? Someone on his campaign staff is a white nationalist, and sold him on the triangles thing because red for commies, and downward pointing triangles are scary.

But that's mainly because while I do think Trump has copious amounts of 'old wealthy people' racism, he doesn't come across as a legit Nazi sympathizer. I could be wrong about that... But I just don't see it. He's too eager to stick his dick in minorities.

Even if it was, and it isn't, it isn't inherently wrong to repress fascists. Merely a bad choice because such choices often result in a more widely accepted Victimisation of that group that increases their popularity.

It's way too much of a coincidence to entirely ignore. I mean, it wouldn't be the first time someone was that ignorant, like the 'Super Scouts' and their literal Nazi SS flag. But it feels like an odd move for Trump himself to be the push behind it.

What's unfair and repressive about pointing out when Trump is lying? The US isn't some authoritarian hellhole where correcting Dearest Leader isn't allowed.

I mean. If you do it even handedly? Sure. Go ahead. They don't usually. They apply it selectively to people they oppose while letting people they agree with lie all the time.

Doubt he could tolerate the idea of working for someone else. As with most of the shit he does, it's not that he actually believes it, he just has zero problem with tolerating and playing along with it so long as he believes it will benefit him and serves to inflate his ego. If the white nationalist Non-Trumps want to dog whistle other non-Trumps about the danger of various other non-Trumps...who cares? Just so long as they vote for him and tell him he's the bravest and handsomest boy at his rallies.
