Atheris wrote:https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/29/us/politics/trump-hong-kong-china-WHO.htmlThe New York Times wrote:WASHINGTON — President Trump said Friday that his administration would “begin the process” of ending the American government’s special relationship with Hong Kong, including on trade and law enforcement, and that he was withdrawing from the World Health Organization, as part of a broad effort to retaliate against China...
...Mr. Trump voiced a range of grievances against China’s “malfeasance,” angrily denouncing the country’s trade and security practices and its crackdown on civil liberties in Hong Kong, as well as its influence at the W.H.O...
“My announcement today will affect the full range of agreements we have with Hong Kong,” the president said, including “action to revoke Hong Kong’s preferential treatment as a separate customs and travel territory from the rest of China.”
...And Mr. Trump also said he was “terminating” the United States’ “relationship” with the W.H.O., which he portrayed as a puppet of the Chinese Communist Party. The president, who previously halted funding to the organization, repeatedly blamed the organization and China for mishandling the coronavirus outbreak after the pandemic spread to the United States. Allies of the W.H.O., which gets most of its funding from America, defended the organization and its response to the pandemic, saying it was among the earliest public health voices warning of the danger from the virus.
“This is a desperate effort by President Trump to distract America from his disastrous management of the coronavirus pandemic and repeated failures to hold the government of China to account when it mattered most,” said Antony Blinken, a former deputy secretary of state and foreign policy adviser to Mr. Trump’s likely Democratic presidential opponent, former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.
It's happening, folks. Just when we thought 2020 couldn't get any worse, the President has declared that the US is leaving the World Health Organization.
Honestly, I'm not quite sure what to make of this. I think he has to have congressional approval to do this, but I'm not sure. Trump also said that he's ending Hong Kong's special status with the US. Corporate lobbyists and politicans have urged the President to reconsider, but I don't think he will. However, I think the biggest issue is his declaration on leaving the WHO.
What say you, NSG?

The decision was a rare late-night one; the ruling 5-4. The four Democrats and Chief Justice Roberts, ruled against the Church. Roberts wrote:
The precise question of when restrictions on particular social activities should be lifted during the pandemic is a dynamic and fact-intensive matter subject to reasonable disagreement [...] should not be subject to second-guessing by an ‘unelected federal judiciary,’ which lacks the background, competence, and expertise to assess public health and is not accountable to the people.”

Hong Kong is no longer independent, so yeah
Also, good. Why We should fund China's mouthpiece after they sabotaged the worlds response to the crisis is beyond me. Should sanction their officials while we're at it.
