I might be bias towards this given I'm an atheist but I do not view places of worship as essential, especially when one can literally pray at home (or listen in from afar, we're in the fucking 21st Century after all). Also, him forcing States to re-open up things, doesn't that go against their respect for State Rights or something?

People can't pray at home? The word network exists but I guess there's too many fucking dipshits to keep away from the church.

Trump says Churches must open

Postby La Xinga » Fri May 22, 2020 1:54 pm

So it seems our awesome/horrible president says that churches and other religious stuff must open, and if the govs say no, he'l override them.

What does NSG think about Donald Trump's statement?

Probably writing 95 theses about how SARS-cov-2 spreads and how God asks of His believers to use the gift of life wisely.

Everyone can worship at home. Churches should not be open during a dangerous time like this unless they're being held remotely via zoom.

I hope Churches still offer digital services, because there's an awful lot of elderly people who go to church. Probably a lot more than elderly people who routinely go to nightclubs or beaches.

I hope Churches keep offering digital services because otherwise there's going to be a lot of elderly faithful who otherwise would be safer at home.

People can't pray at home? The word network exists but I guess there's too many fucking dipshits to keep away from the church.

As someone who goes to church regularly, I can confirm that the church experience isn't really the same over the internet (just as socialization over zoom isn't quite a fit replacement for face to face interaction), but that said, it's really no different than any other place that should wait until it's safe to host huge gatherings.

It's a very small number of pastoral hypocrites that have anywhere near enough money for jets. In 99% of cases, pastoring is not a financially lucrative job.

Interesting opinions, I think that while prayer is necessary and essential, it's too early to open them.

Besides, according to all faiths, God doesn't need one to pray at church. They can worship him anywhere.

Well, I mean there are zero surprises that Trumps spiritual advisor is a Prosperity Preacher or whatever the fuck they're called. Prosperity theology, it's the televangalists that make the millions of dollars and suggest that's what god intended.

So yeah, he's looking out for his rich friends again by sacrificing his poor supporters. But hey, if they're going to keep jumping in the meat grinders...

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

The evangelicals lost my support completely when they turned to Trump. They're supporting a guy who fucks hoes, does dope and says he doesn't need God's forgiveness but still have the nerve to hate on the gays.

He's obviously trying to build a narrative of being the defender of freedoms while those unfortunates who have to try to control a pandemic take all the blame for what needs to be done to keep people alive.

Soon the death toll in the US will be above one hundred thousand souls. I wonder how many of those were avoidable if the government was more focused on saving lives than saving Trump's election chances.

Jesus would probably be violently attacked in America these days for "911ing the twin towers." He really ought to avoid visiting here.
