The amount of Doomerism, Defeatism, and Pessimism on NSG is absolutely astronomical.

A lot of it stems from recent times, with the US basically abandoning its allies and interests in the rest of world in a number of cases. China is taking advantage of that and it at the very least makes them appear to be a rising power.

This is one of the better takes I've seen recently about tensions with China.

The US is losing ground relative to China, and it's not all about whatever China is doing. It's also very much about what the US is doing, and the US has dropped the ball. We have an incompetent leadership that ignores facts and routinely bungles diplomatic relations with our allies.
