..which these days is nigh on impossible given tracking and surveillance. If anything the virus has strengthened the CCP hand given the extent to which they now monitor and record your every movement.
Meanwhile..
China has also been flying regular fighter patrols near Taiwan, which China claims is part of its territory despite having never governed the island. In mid-March the People’s Liberation Army sent warplanes across the median line of the Taiwan Strait, and briefly approached Taiwan. The move, which analysts said was at least partly to intimidate Taiwan, prompted Taiwan to scramble fighter planes to intercept.
China is also sending military flotillas past Taiwan and Japan on a semi-regular basis. Last week a six-vessel strike group led by China’s only aircraft carrier sailed through the Miyako Strait and past Taiwan, under watch by the Taiwanese and Japanese defence forces.
In January, a military flotilla, again led by the aircraft carrier, passed through the straits of Taiwan.

I will honestly not be surprised by an invasion of Taiwan, maybe a low percentage chance but this past few months has really pissed China off given last year's election results, the whole WHO thing and then people pointing to Taiwan's relative success in containing the virus.
Anyway, it's 2020.. bad juju year.

Invasion of Taiwan? And piss off the entire Western World, probing a war. I don't think they're that the stupid

Would it, would the US at this point go to war over an island.. I suspect the CCP is very much calculating that.
Like I say, I put the percentage chance as low, just I wouldn't be surprised. The point is that the CCP is absolutely strengthening its grip on China not loosening it.

Actually they've kind of got worse, as noted their surveillance is fully ramped up under the guise of monitoring the virus, they're buzzing Taiwan, they've completely broken the One Country Two System in HK, arrested plenty of dissidents..
..what will be interesting is the upcoming June 4th anniversary of Tiananmen, I can absolutely tell you the people of HK will be out in force, would be good for the whole world to turn out and show their support for better freedom of information and less general dictatorial repression.
