At Christmas time, I import packages of Koffee Kup kruellers into the benighted South as humanitarian relief for family members who can't get decent doughnuts.
Krispy Kremes are an abomination. They are to doughnuts what McDonald's is to hamburgers. Try a real doughnut sometime.
One of the obnoxious things about living in North Carolina was that it was impossible to buy decent doughnuts down there. Literally all that was in the stores was those awful lumps of sugar-glazed paste, and like vending-machine-grade powdered doughnuts.
(To be fair, you can't get decent barbecue or hushpuppies up here.)
