2.8? I never heard of a .x in any handicapped. I wasnt great when I played regularly, I played to an 18 handicap. But handicaps are generally played to whole numbers. ( note: you may give half a stroke on a hole), but unless things have changed, someone telling me they had .8 of a handicap would tell me they are full of crap.

If Trump was playing the idiot to cement his power, wouldn't he be better off not doing so in a way which mobilises a potentially power-stealing portion of the citizens against him? One cannot claim his current strategy does not put him at significant risk of losing the upcoming election.

Again, I suggest people look to John Key to see what a successful version of the strategy Purpelia ascribes to Trump looks like.

Trump's able to resemble, broadly, the expectations of a swathe of American voters. This does not mean he's doing a good job at that. All it means is that he's doing something completely obvious to the bare minimum standard.

I guess Boris Johnson might be an appropriate contemporary comparison. He, also, seems to project something of "I'm an idiot, but it's okay" but that might be because I remember the flying fox and otherwise don't pay attention to him. In any case, he's less disliked than Trump whom most Americans hate. That Johnson is less liked presumably reflects that the UK is nominally a three party country (i.e. smaller base).

I know it can be hard to swallow this but the fact is world leaders are not bumbling buffoons that somehow manage to win in spite of their stupidity. It is the majority of the people who are in fact stupid. And stupid wants stupid. So our leaders are intelligent manipulative people who act the way they do because that is what sells.

Most world leaders aren't bumbling buffoons, no. Neither is Trump. But he is an idiot. He got into power because he's good a self promotion. He did not get into power by secretly being a genius and master manipulator.

I know it can be appealing to tell yourself that you can see the real truth, that you know how the magic trick works when everyone else is fooled. But most of the time, things just are as they appear and there is no magic trick. If someone powerful and important seems stupid, they probably just are. If they're just acting stupid, the truth will probably get out that it is just an act. You haven't discovered the secret truth, you've invented a lie for yourself. Or more likely, you've fallen for a lie by someone else who likes the feeling of believing that they've discovered the secret truth.
