North Korea is extremely conservative so it is unlikely that his sister will be able to take control even if she is the most capable candidate. His brother is reportedly apolitical and simply plays music. His children are too young to grab power for themselves. This leaves Kim Pyong Il or a general.

Kim Yo-jong is the most powerful woman in North Korea, as they say. She is a top contender for the "throne". Kim Pyong-il meanwhile is a diplomat; having lived outside the country until very recently, he would not be popular with the people (remember that North Korea is juche and thus the government's national image hangs on the support of the public).

Very unlikely. The DPRK is a country that's essentially in lockdown by default. There are very few if any foreigners coming in and their citizens don't get to travel abroad much either. So the odds of the virus having made it into the DPRK are exceedingly low.

I doubt South Korea and the US would stand idle on that... given all the tensions between US and China lately, probably both sides would be willing to take part in the NK game of thrones, should it arises.

I doubt that there isn't already a deal in place for such a contingency.

Pretty sure Pyongyang has good doctors, but the hospitals themselves are in ruins (that we know of). It would not surprise me if high ranking party members receive their treatment secretly in China.

I said it many pages earlier - we will not know anything unless the KCNA itself comfirms it, and even if it is true they will comfirm it whenever they feel like.

That's a bit of a pessimistic take.

I'm fairly certain most North Koreans aren't brain dead idiots that truly believe their leaders are gods. More likely than not they accept their leaders are extremely powerful and cannot be overthrown so they're too afraid to try. Same problem in China. That's how dystopias work; nobody really believes the propaganda, they're just too afraid to challenge it. The Black Market is big in North Korea. They smuggle in Western media all the time. People escape all the time, risking everything in the process.

It might be overwhelming for some, but only when they find out how much better life outside North Korea is than inside it. Committing suicide because you're not starving to death anymore? Sorry, that just sounds absurd.

No I completely stand by what I say. Completely.

To be honest, Trump used memes. Watch EmperorLemon's video on it.

That being said, every electoral campaign in history is a meme or uses them to some effect. Meme doesn't just mean "funny joke on internet haha," it's an actual field of scientific study that I find very interesting.

Based on accounts from North Korean defectors and other intelligence, it’s estimated that most people start questioning the propaganda around the time they turn 10. By the time they’re adults, most people don’t legitimately believe most of that stuff

I don't think anyone really knows how the population will react to the collapse of a type of regime that really has no parallels in modern times.
