Worst, Donald J. Trump and out.

Best, FDR. Only because Eugene V. Debs never won.

nooo a leftist putting Theodore Roosevelt on the good list

“Well, he had very well-developed and racist views towards both Indians and blacks. He regarded Indians as savages. He respected them because they were ardent warriors. But he expected that they would be eliminated, exterminated from America in contest with the white men who were settling the continent, to the people who he hailed as backwoodsmen. And he required the Indians to be there to be the strenuous opponent through which Americans could prove their valor. But he was very clear that in a modern America that he was building, he expected they would be exterminated either through battle or through simply the inability to adjust to modern life.

https://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2019/03 ... -100-years

He was far from perfect, and held some racist views. But what he publicly advocated and actually practiced did a lot of good.

Also I disagree with that article in several ways. Although he supported economic REFORM to benefit the people as whole, he was very different than Warren and Sanders even in economic policy, (he was definitely no socialist, supported regulated capitalism and protectionism) besides he also supported military expansion.

So for the Democrats to try to claim his legacy is dubious. FDR I will buy. Sanders definitely not though.

You gotta love Thomas Jefferson views on race. He defended the rights of Muslims, viewed the Native Americans as smart and capable of being civilized and being American citizens, and he liked China, but then when it got to black people, he was just like "They're fucking monkeys. If we ever get rid of slavery, please send them back to Africa."

It's particularly odd because according to this musical I went to, Jefferson was himself black

Are you thinking of Hamilton? There's no doubt however that there are descendents of Jefferson who are considered to be black. As for Washington, his wife was the enslaver of most of the workers at Mount Vernon. But he and most of the early southern Presidents participated in enslavement of African Americans. Re: Jackson above, he also despoiled Native Americans of their land so that he and others could put enslaved African Americans to work on it; this incidentally is the foundation of the current power and prosperity of the nation.

Awfully hard to agree with someone when they use words like "desater" and "worstest".

And considering you edited that post, that's worse.

Tied for either Lincoln or Washington. Distant second would be Reagan.

Yeah pretty much the same reasons as most others.

Worst

My pick for worst has to be FDR.

Not at all, very much individual. I am sure your and my value systems are very different. Note I am not saying mine is better than yours, just that it is different.

Besides while I am not a fan of either Bush or obama. Iraq is a very small part of my calculation on rating them. That said I can certainly understand that being very high on an Iraqi's priorities when evaluating an American president.

Not at all, capital is the foundation of the current power and prosperity of the nation, not human labor.

Many such cases. Sad!

I don't know who the worst US president was, though if you pushed me on it, I would say obviously George Washington. Revolutionary military leaders usually do not know how to govern, and that man was no exception. He could have set up a proportionally representative multi-party system with universal suffrage for all employed or tax-paying men (this would have been progressive at the time) and banned all campaign contributions exceeding one day's median salary.

Instead, the elitist snob cavalry officer paved the way for a non-majority representative two-party system which was quickly bought up on both ends by Capital, and then ran off to smoke weed on his farm, leaving successive generations of government to invent the federal government for themselves and pretend it had some legal basis. Because of this, and many other failures in establishing a basic legal framework for government, he is responsible for the failings of every successive US president.

That said, what I really want to talk about here, is that Bush was worse than Trump.

Because, Bush killed hundreds of thousands of people, at least.

Bush was a genocidal prick. Trump is an annoying game show host. If you can't tell which one is worse, you should stop posting, stop voting, and stop sharing your opinions.

Buchanan is proof that trump is definitely not the worst. Trump hasn't (yet) helped kick off a civil war. And has everyone forgotten how much damage happened during the Bush years? Seriously why do people think Trump is this unique kind of jerk? He's just another asshole out of a world full of them.

Getting rid of the bank caused a major economic crisis. But Jackson was definitely in the extreme mixed bag with Nixon and LBJ.
