Never said I know everything, but I actually know something about it. Also, not whining. Just pointing out how what you said isn't remotely true.

New Covenant, the New Testament is the collection of books and essays.

New Testament and New Covenant are actually synonymous. Both uses are translated from διαθήκη. So New Haven is inadvertently correct here.

Indeed, I for one never had a deep theological conversation on the meaning of jesus's sacrifice on the cross that lead to casual sex.

You clearly never dated a girl who had a strict religious upbringing by overbearing parents.

It wouldn't make sense as a gnostic gospel given that the Gnostics believe Jesus didn't have a body and couldn't have fathered children.

Also Mary Magdalen wasn't retconned from the Bible and actually plays a pretty central role.

The basic idea is that her role was actually bigger, but that it was toned down throughout the ages.

Given how Jesus, according to Christian doctrine, is also God, an argument could be made that any carnal intimacy had by Jesus Christ was not casual sex, but causal sex. You know, the whole 'everything happens because God allows it to happen' shtick. Theology is funny like that, hence all those religious wars.

I had once an rather superficial theological conversation with an egyptian girl about how "Allah" would supposedly see everything she cooed and that this would be something to keep in mind.

A lot of girls from conservative religious or social backgrounds go into a sex-craze after their first time and remain there for a while. You can usually tell the difference that they get far less intellectual and more... lets say carnal. I've seen it happening to some pretty smart girls after they got their first boyfriend. They changed personality and interests, attitudes etc. For some it was a phase, for others it wasnt.

Thats why you find in so many old stories and ancient legends stuff about virgin priestesses and oracles who loose their skills after loosing virginity etc.

It saddens me to see women lapse in faith because their gifts to our church and world are so numerous, they're blessed.

The women I'm close to regularly attend Mass, Bible study, and are active members of my church. Outside of that structure there is plenty of room to fall.

It's a sad thing but there's hope for us all. :)

Not really, no, but (unpaid)premarital sex was still sharply disapproved of.

I mean. Not necessarily. That's honestly my main complaint about defenders of hookup culture. Anyone who complains just gets labeled as either misogynistic, or as unsexy.

No offense, but just because one could hypothetically hook up with someone, does not necessarily mean you want to.

Yeah, one might also complain that casual sex reduces the quality of sexual encounters.
