Today, respectability and virginity have little in common.

To be honest, those two things seem completely disconnected. I don’t see any correlation between the two, either historically or in contemporary times. Respectable people come in all sorts. Virgins come in all sorts. The two things are independent variables.

As for today, I see no utility in virginity. But being a skilled lover is, if nothing else, likely to improve your romantic relationships. Some util beats no util.
