The issue isn't just you calling her a bitch, as you seem to have assumed (that's iffy and possibly sexist, but I don't know enough about the situation to really say that definitively). What I'm picking up on is the fact that you have decided, against the conclusion of the person who was actually affected and more familiar with the situation, that she was not discriminated against, but simply disrespected for being vaguely "a bitch." One must wonder whether you would interpret her personality as such were she a man, as well as whether you would be so skeptical of her account.
Also, "sexist" is not a weak pejorative; that's utterly ridiculous. There's a very clear meaning for it in use and it is rarely misapplied in the same manner as "fascist." You can't argue that a word doesn't have meaning simply because you're mad that it's been used for you.

Well, see, the issue is that the death penalty in general means that innocent people will end up dying at some point and I'm not too thrilled with that.

There are ways to address that, for example make the death penalty require a higher stand of proof, such as reserving it for cases where there is no real doubt or dispute of guilt, no the more borderline cases. Also for repeat offenders and those who commit crimes while in prison.

Such safeguards can reduce the risk of a false conviction.
