Right Wing Discussion Thread XX
The System Is Kapp Putsch

Image

Remember to keep to topics related to right-wing politics. Whilst the conversation may naturally meander around such areas as religion, philosophy and, of course, left-wing ideology, please, please try to limit discussion of these topics to their relevance to the political right. We leave it up to posters to decide for themselves what constitutes "right-wing" in political jargon. Respect your fellow posters, abide by the site rules, and be prepared to have your views challenged, mocked, torn apart, shit on, and flushed down the toilet.

Relevant subjects for discussion include:

  • The politics, philosophies, and ideologies of the right.
  • Right-wing perspectives on economics and political economy.
  • Cultural issues from right-wing perspectives.
  • News and history relevant to the political right.
  • Right-wing responses to current events.
  • Political, social, cultural, and economic problems and their solutions according to the political Right.
  • The problems facing particular Right-wing movements or the political right in general, and how to resolve them.

Statistics:
Cekoviu wrote:alrighty lads and lasses (and laxxes or whatever), here are the in-depth rwdt statistics nobody asked for! :^)

methods
i selected four 10-page sections scattered throughout the current RWDT to use as representative source material. the tested pages were:
  • 90 through 100 (primarily about Israel and whether swimming should be banned)
  • 220 through 230 (hair for some reason, morality, and immigration)
  • 320 through 330 (polygamy, mod decisions, smoking)
  • 410 through 420 (sexual morality, "is progressivism a secular theology", alcohol)
in total, this is equal to 1000 posts on a wide range of topics relevant to the RWDT, so the posts made here should serve as an accurate image of typical RWDT occurrences.

next, i selected the 20 individuals who post in the RWDT regularly and are reasonably well-attested throughout the source pages:
Bear Stearns, Bienenhalde, Cekoviu, Diopolis, Fahran, Hanafuridake, Italios, Kowani, Luminesa, Nakena, Nap the Magnificent/The Marlborough, Northern Davincia, Novus America, Proctopeo, Questarian New Yorkshire, Salus Maior, The East Marches II, United Muscovite Nations, Valrifell, Washington Resistance Army
(halfway through, i realized i probably should've included joohan, but it was too late ;~;)

i then went through the pages selected for analysis and sorted posts by the aforementioned regulars into one of four categories: effortpost, normal post, minipost, or shitpost. the criteria are essentially as follows:
  • effortpost - appeared to involve considerable effort on the part of the poster, containing multiple in-depth paragraphs and serious political analysis
  • normal post - a post that appears to have involved some but not much effort to make, mostly on the order of multiple sentences to two paragraphs. includes political analysis that is not in-depth, religious argumentation, etc.
  • minipost - a post that is one or two sentences or otherwise not terribly substantive, but which is serious and contributes to the conversation in a constructive manner
  • shitpost - a post which is short and consists primarily or entirely of a joke, banter, or insult without contributing significantly to the conversation at hand
categorical judgments were based not on the political positions taken by posts, but their overall length and level of effort. there were of course borderline cases and my judgment is not impeccable, but as far as i can tell, the majority of posts clearly fell into one of these categories.

additionally, i used the ns profiles of users to obtain their total post count and found year (i included DEATed past incarnations in this, so the post total for, e.g. UMN includes both United Muscovite Nations and United Marxist Nations).

using the post counts per category, two indices of post quality (PQI) and overall contribution (OCI) were generated per user. the formulas are:
(Image)
(Image)
(nm means "number of miniposts," etc. n on its own means total number of posts by the user within the pages analyzed.)
the primary differences between these two measurements are that OCI compounds contribution measurements exponentially, logarithmically decreases the weight of shitposts (as a user who shitposts frequently causes less damage by shitposting on her 55th time doing so than a new user on her 1st time doing so, since people adjust to it), and does not control for post total. OCI determines the direct amount of influence a user has on the RWDT, whereas PQI measures the merits of a user's posts without regard to the number or history.

results: demographics
the mean total post count for an RWDTer is approximately 23365, with the most prolific posters being UMN, luminesa, and WRA in that order and the least prolific being bienenhalde, bear stearns, and hanafuridake.

the gender ratio of the RWDTers analyzed here is 14:5:1 M:F:GQ, meaning that there is a significant gender disparity in comparison to real life, but it may be less severe than nsg at large (unfortunately, i can't seem to find any gender surveys on nsg)

the typical found date of an RWDT poster is mid-2014.

results: posting trends
(Image)
Most regulars have a fairly minimal influence on the thread compared to a few much more influential people, according to OCI trends.

(Image)
in contrast, many posters have overall decent post quality, with a few constant shitposters causing the most trouble.

the user with the highest average post quality was novus america (PQI = 0.968), followed by bear stearns (0.870) and kowani (0.859). the user with the lowest average quality was valrifell (PQI = -0.375), followed by TEM (-0.139) and proctopeo (-0.083).

the greatest overall contributor to the thread was questers (OCI = 1361.37), followed by fahran (666.67) and cekoviu (433.19). the lowest overall contributors were proctopeo (OCI = 6.22), luminesa (9.88), and bienenhalde (11.18).

no significant correlation between found year/total posts and OCI/PQI exists. additionally, there is no significant correlation between poster gender and OCI/PQI.

discussion
the high average post count and early found date for rwdters is not surprising, since many of the posters here have been around for quite a long time and are well-established on nsg. the fact that the rwdt is a sausage party was already obvious -- this is likely a combination of nsg's general lack of female posters and the rwdt's particular inability to be around women while maintaining any level of decorum.

i did not expect kowani and bear stearns to top the charts for PQI. i assume that their presence is essentially an artifact of sampling -- they both simply happened to make several out-of-character effortposts within this span, which boosted their scores significantly. the same is true for my presence at the top of the OCI charts, seeing as i am a relatively recent arrival and i mostly shitpost.

questers and fahran being at the top of the OCI ought to surprise nobody. luminesa and bienenhalde are low on this measurement not because their posts lack quality, but because they minimally posted within the page ranges surveyed.

resources
raw data csv
r script for analysis

conclusion
1) i have utterly wasted both my time and yours
2) proctopeo is statistically a consistently bad poster

I just realized we're going to get a 22nd iteration of the thread. I kinda rushed it so the pun is lame. I'll fix that in due time. I'm updating the polls section now and trying to come up with a new poll.

I did not say that TRAFFICKING would be decreased. My point was that it would be more safe for people who work in industry voluntarily (as sex workers). As there would be regulations. I do understand trafficking problems, that's why I said also that it's difficult topic, not that "we should all legalize it".

But I re-read by post, and yes, I understand where the misunderstanding came. My mistake, with phrasing, as I did not count trafficking from other countries first.

I mean, stripping is legal, and that seems to be a job with a fair amount of exposure to violence from customers.

i'm not answering your question because it's loaded so that you can either force me to abandon my very real beliefs or just call me a random virtue-signaling "ist" for my beliefs.

okay, but the issue with that is that legalized sex work with "regulations" means presumably sex trafficking is still illegal. because sex trafficking is done explicitly without verbal or written consent, it can't even be "coerced consent" like "regular" sex work, which is why the division exists. thus when we partially legalize sex work, more people are trafficked, so there's less protection for those people. does this make sense?

Should we make separated thread about sex-work, as I don't really think it neither RW or LW topic. First definitely is against it, second probably disagrees with each other about it.

REST IN PEACE RWDT & LWDT
I'm just a poor wayfaring stranger, traveling through this world below
There is no sickness, no toil, nor danger, in that bright land to which I go
I'm going there to see my Father, and all my loved ones who've gone on
I'm only going over Jordan, I'm only going over home

I know dark clouds will gather 'round me, I know my way is hard and steep
But beauteous fields arise before me, where God's redeemed, their vigils keep
