Your political alignment (With a twist!)

Postby Cisairse » Mon Apr 06, 2020 3:27 pm

It's been awhile since we had one of these threads, and I was recently recommended a new website that gives more meaningful results based on four axes: economic, diplomatic, civil, and societal. I'm curious what y'alls outcomes are.

Here's the website: https://8values.github.io/index.html

Here's my result:
Image

I agree with the sliders, but I disagree with "libertarian communism." I would self-describe as a libertarian democratic socialist, not a communist. The website does include a caveat that the sliders are more accurate than the ideology names.

I like the 4-axis result way more than the 2-axis political "compass." I think it paints a clearer picture of what my values actually are, and what my ideal society is. After taking it and seeing your results, do y'all agree?

The author also made another version with even more axes, called "9axes": https://9axes.github.io/

I personally don't like it as much, but here's my results of the long-form test if you want to compare:
Image

Update. There's an even better test based on a 3-axis model: https://lucasnorth.uk/sapply/

I like this test much more than the other ones. Here's my result, which I feel is perfectly accurate for my political views:

Image

I also took the left-wing test, which is socialist/communist specific and helps place you in the broader left-wing sphere. I feel that my results are accurate.

If you're a leftist, you can take the test yourself here: https://leftvalues.github.io/

Revoulutionary Socialist fits me.

Results
Economic Axis: Social

72.4%
27.6%

Diplomatic Axis: Patriotic

72.2%
27.8%

Civil Axis: Moderate

58.7%
41.3%

Societal Axis: Progressive

39.4%
60.6%

Closest Match: Revolutionary Socialism
Ideological matching is a work in progress, and is much less accurate than the values and axes.
You can send these results by copying and pasting the URL at the top of the page or using the image below. Think your matched ideology was wrong? Want to help us calibrate the test? Send the results along with your political ideology to us at eightvalues@gmail.com, or send us any

I believe I scored Centrist on economics when I last took it, or maybe Social. It was pretty much around the middle.

I took the short 9axes test, and here's what I got:

I mostly agree with these sliders except I wouldn't describe myself as a globalist by any stretch of the imagination. I am very much a staunch protectionist.

I'll take the longer one, and rework the OP a bit to include the new test.

I hate these things. The questions are always loaded, vague, or misrepresenting and I get different results every time I try to wrap my head around some of them.

Just took the longer 216 question 9axes and it gave me some weird results, the only one I can fully say I am confident in was the 71% Democratic rating. The rest were either debatable or flat-out wrong. The problem with these tests is it's difficult to actually gauge one's political leanings when the only answers you can give are "Strongly Agree", "Agree", "Neutral/Unsure", "Disagree", and "Strongly Disagree". Those answers are too vague to gauge any information out of the more complicated questions.

Maybe I'll try the shorter one tomorrow and see if I can get clearer results.

So are we excluding Fascism or are we grouping them with socialists or whats going on?
I am Center-Left Libertarian. (-3,-3) on the Political Compass. My friends call me Whiskey cause I was named after a bottle of Jack Daniel's.

I've been drowning myself in work, I just started Culinary School, and I recently got called a Boot Licker for thanking a veteran for their service. I'm sad that I have to witness the part of history where supporting Cops and Troops is seen and a radical ideology.

Do you mean w/r/t the poll? Is fascism outside one of those options...?

I copied and pasted the choices from the possible economic values from 8values.

My Political Views have evolved overtime, very much. I used to be a highly authoritarian type, not fascist, however. I was also for a Theocratic state, but now I'm for a Semi-Democratic Constitutional Aristocracy, and not a theocratic one.

My preferred Government is one where the Aristocrats act as representatives of the constitution, and they can't really change laws. They can do pretty basic things like raise or lower taxes, place tariffs, institute conscription, open or close borders, etc. But they cannot have so much power that they can overturn laws or oppress the people.

Aristocrats select people to replace them when they die, but the people of the nation can elect governors, mayors, judges, etc. So we're sort of democratic.

Wait, in your system, what prevents the aristocracy from raising taxes to an excessive degree as a form of oppression? Or lower them to much that the civil government collapses?

values are about right, ideological matching is pretty wrong, since my most "neoliberal" position is "the government shouldn't spend money", but I guess it's so ill-defined and vague an ideology that it could fit
