The problem, however, is not just the quarantine measures. There’s also the economic collateral damage from all this, which is going to wipe out people’s livelihoods and savings. People are going to lose a lot; and the Government frantically injecting cash into the System, and printing currency up the wazoo is not going to help anybody. I’m much more concerned about the unrest from the economic downturn, and the political, social, and economic ramifications from that, than I am about the quarantine or the virus itself.

The Elites are looking out for themselves and their fat cat cronies on Wall Street: the multinational corporations, big banks, and all the other “Too Big to Fails”; handing bailouts like loot bags at a 5 year old’s birthday party; while telling the average Joe there’s just not enough money to help out him and his family, and he can only expect to receive a couple of months worth of Government cheques. This is going to enrage people; and if it persists long enough, with no solution or no distraction there will be blood in the streets and politicians hanging from lampposts. To prevent this unsavoury ending, our Rulers will doubtless seek to engineer some foreign adventure or other catastrophe, so as to take our attention off our economic woes and the corruption and ineffectivity of the System. That’s where things get really dangerous, and where Major Wars tend to be fought. I think the next few years are going to be quite the bumpy ride.

But the point is this would actually help the economy more, as many restrictions in low risk areas could be lifted as soon as possible. Thus helping to reduce the problems. The best way to fix the economic damage is to implement such a zone based system, as much of the country would be a low risk zone.

You’re assuming, however, that the economic downturn is due to the Coronavirus; and on the surface level, that’s true; but if you dig a little deeper, that’s not the underlying problem. The underlying problem is: The “Post-Recovery” Economy is incredibly fragile, because the Authorities didn’t fix any of the problems that manifested themselves in 2008; instead they simply papered it over with bailouts, low interest rates, and cheap, easy credit. Now that a genuine crisis has come, the Economy is imploding, and all the old problems that were buried, are coming back to the surface; because most people, corporations, and the Government, are as leveraged (indebted) as ever, if not even more so; and they do not have the funds to deal with such an unexpected crisis.

Now, the Government can always just print more currency to pay for what it needs (not without eroding purchasing power of said currency, though); but not so with the Corporations or the People. The Corporations, due to their influence on the Government will simply get a bailout, and the people will get close to nothing. So ultimately, it’s the average person that gets shafted in all of this, and it’s the Government and the Corporations that walks away from this mess whole. Or do they? Because, the problem has metastasized much worse since the 2008 Crisis, and the consequences of this implosion are likewise going to be much worse than 08. Add to this the rampant political and social divisions in the Country, and you have a recipe for disaster.

In that sense, the Coronavirus is not so much the cause of the Economic Crisis, rather it is the catalyst; so solving the Coronavirus Crisis won’t necessarily fix the economic crisis, but not solving It would just make everything else way worse.

So this has started to scare-scare me.

My dad closed his clinic yesterday after getting a call from the mom of one of his patients the night before. One of her kids had tested positive for COVID-19, and him, his brother, and her were running fevers and she was coughing/wheezing while on the call with my dad. The lady's husband had already been rushed to the hospital that same day because he wasn't able to breathe and got put on a ventilator. Unrelated to that lady, but a friend of a friend's father passed away earlier this week due to COVID-19.

We have family friends in Madrid who are doctors and they tell my dad the situation is awful and they've resorted to using garbage bags as PPE's, if anyone is curious I could probably post the pictures that they sent us of their gear. I'm also pretty scared for my family in Spain too since that country is getting absolutely walloped and a lot of them are in their 50's and up.

2020's been pretty nasty, I think is safe to say.

Again you do not need to shut down all travel, just from the high risk to lower risk areas. Unless on county ups state is high risk and another lower. that is no really an issue.

So apparently some tool of a human being reporter pressed Trump on why he didn't order all restaurants and grocery stores closed, and while I usually can't stand trump, I really got an issue with this news reporter.

Like seriously you fucking dickhead, we're already flattening the curve in several areas, and people need food. What are we gonna do, have the army deliver supplies to all 325 million Americans and shut them up in their house till they go stir crazy? Now you just being cruel. Now you being unnecessarily draconian and inflicting serious economic and psychological harm on people for no reason. I'm glad this Einstein got shot down in flames, he deserves it considering how little regard he clearly has for people who can't telework, unlike him.

I mean, it's a valid question. When everything is closed except grocery stores, EVERYONE goes to the grocery stores, which means everyone who is infected spreads their infection to surfaces on the grocery stores.

But isn’t that already happening?
