Hard to say. He may be in some distress and doctors want him on ventilator to make sure.

Not enough information public to say really. But intensive care usually means things are very not good.

True though every little thing helps (excluding the so-called drugs that Trump touts). There's a deputy Prime Minister I believe in the UK. Do they take power temporarily or does Parliament select a new PM, assuming unfortunately Johnson succumbs to the disease?

Yes, Raab is in charge at the moment. However, the succession protocol if a PM suddenly dies in office is murky, because it is so extremely rare. PM Percival was assassinated in 1812 and it caused a bit of mayhem if I remember rightly. The Queen is involved in the PM's status, so she would need to get involved.

That would seem the logical conclusion.

Possibly but pneumonia doesn’t always require hospitalization or being admitted to ICU.

I would imagine that if it gets bad enough that Johnson's might actually die then Parliament will replace him rather than have to figure out what to do with a dead PM.

There have to be clear transfer of power guidelines for such an eventuality. I doubt the Brits haven’t written those or don’t know what to do if it happens.

The Queen will just call Dominic Raab to form a government. Then we can sort it all out once this is over.

The UK does not have a formal constitutional role of a deputy or caretaker prime minister to step in if he or she is incapacitated, says the Institute for Government (IoG).

However, the prime minister usually designates someone to perform his duties, were something to happen.

At the beginning of the outbreak, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab was announced as the UK's "designated survivor". Downing Street has confirmed he is now taking charge where he is needed.

The IoG says, were a prime minister to die in office and there was a majority government (as there is now), it would be up to the cabinet to recommend an immediate successor to the Queen.

But we are nowhere near that point, with No 10 saying Boris Johnson has been moved to intensive care as a precaution.

Well this certainly isn't going to end well in New York, seizing the Ventilators and supplies from upstate New York, many who barely have any to begin with, in order to make sure New York City has enough supplies?

That's going to build some resentment....

Seems justified to me. NYC need them and they're not even being used upstate?

The virus is starting to spread upstate just like it's spreading everywhere, and they barely have enough resources to begin with, when the virus inevitably reaches those locations do you really think New York City is going to send the supplies back to them?
