But how? So wait, is this thing literally the apocalypse or not? I've been told that the death rate for people my age is like 0.4%, and that many of the dead had health issues. So what's going on here?

So was there 100 people still injecting or drink disinfectants as per the spike in phone calls?

I can’t say. My impression is that those calls were to ask if it was ok or not to drink disinfectants to treat CoVID19 because of Trump’s suggestions. That press conference has resulted in an aggressive pushback by FDA and some cleaning product companies in regards to telling people not to use disinfectants to treat coronavirus. That it could result in damage or in death.

Oh well thats not so bad but still bad.

People who could have needed the poison hotline where clogged by people who needed to ask if drinking bleach is safe.


TBH i'm not mad or disappointed in the callers beacuse they at least had the senablity to ask first.

Well after the 19th argument with my family in 3 days, I really cannot wait for this lockdown to end. They've been pushing me to find a second job, which is weird considering that #1 next to no one is hiring because everything is shut down and #2 the few places hiring like the grocery store are the places I would most likely catch COVID. My mom has been having a fucking spaz attack over COVID like this is the black plague (it isn't, this virus isn't the flu but it's more similar to the flu in morality than it is to the bubonic plague), but then wants me to basically put myself at risk for catching COVID.

Big reason I want the shelter in place order to end is so I can go back to spending most of my day away from them.

I hope this is constructive advice, but if it isn't just ignore. You catching COVID would be more of a risk to your parents (don't know how old, but older is more vulnerable) so the last thing your mother should want is for you to get a grocery job, catch the virus and bring it home. You noted yourself her inconsistency there. Maybe the missing piece of the puzzle is that she doesn't know about incubation period, or asymptomatic cases. She might be thinking that as soon as you catch it you'll show symptoms and be off to the hospital, leaving them safe.

My mom had Epstein Barr a few years ago which all but destroyed her immune system and my dad has chrones. If either of them get COVID, they're finished. My parents are very stubborn hard headed people though, and frankly I think they wish they could push me out of their house, not that I would need much of a push. I was gonna move out in August until COVID all but ended my hopes of leaving here before next year. Sucks, I probably should have stayed out when I moved in May, but Tez was a real pain to live with.

Generally I distrust business, but when the reputation of their own product is at stake they're quite diligent.

If it even came to that. They'd take quite a beating in out-of-court settlements just to avoid the further publicity. Well imo.

It's a guilt by association thing. They put the required warnings on the bottle, they put the child-proof cap required by law, they never implied in advertising or on the bottle that the stuff was safe (let along beneficial) for internal use. It's not in any way their fault that someone took what the President said as advice. They did nothing wrong and my guess is they would win in court if grieving families did sue them. But the more publicity there is for injuries or deaths, by the misuse of their product, the more their brand will suffer. The public aren't rational that way, they're forever going to see that brand "which killed someone" as more toxic and dangerous than the competitor's.

Must confess, Hobos, I just can’t stop shaking my head at this whole situation.

The job thing is heavily motivated by them wanting me to pay for my own food and for the heating bill since I insist it be warmer than 60 degrees in the house. Money is involved, and the only thing I can currently do is just go outside.

If you have the dry cough, you should get tested. People can have different symptoms.

I actually want to get one of those antibody tests when they are more reliable and widely available, because the more I read about less common symptoms, the more I wonder if I already had it. I had what I thought was a cold, and the symptoms were mostly not typical for COVID -- stuffy nose, sore throat, damp cough that wasn't very persistent, no fever or trouble breathing -- but the thing that makes me wonder is one night I was cooking dinner and I used garlic, onions, and chili oil to season my food, and I could not smell it cooking. It was only that one dinner, but you would think it would have a strong smell, right?

He’s telling me that since I don’t have any of the other telltale signs of CoVID (fever or aches), I’m probably having allergy driven cough (which I suspect it’s the deal) or a head cold. Weather here has been a tad yo-yo-ey so that never helps me.

Though it seems I may have had the virus in late March and anxiety came with those symptoms including fever & aches which lasted a week. This timing was after flu season had spiked (I had my flu shot last fall too). Unfortunately allergy season is going to make a lot of people ill at ease this year.

Gods, no. I came to terms with him being president a long time ago. No. What makes me shake my head is this ongoing thing with disinfectants, claims of sarcasm and damage control. Something that could’ve been avoided. But no.

I’m honestly emotionally exhausted, ngl. My patience is shorter than Britney Spears’s first marriage.
