Licana on the M-21A2 MBT: "Well, it is one of the most badass tanks on NS."
Vortiaganica: Lamoni I understand fully, of course. The two (Lamoni & Lyras) are more inseparable than the Clinton family and politics.
Triplebaconation: Lamoni commands a quiet respect that carries its own authority. He is the Mandela of NS.

You might not have the option, I expect cruise lines will mostly go broke.
It's a shame really. I was talked into taking a cruise (on Princess Lines actually) and was really surprised how much I enjoyed it. You can eat whatever you want whenever you want, and a steward will bring you duty-free booze in your cabin. There's a gym and entertainments: and this was one of the smallest Princesses, the big Carnival ships have more entertainments. Probably just a happy memory now.

I know. Humans fight back. The other primates are too few and far between.
Outbreaks in other primates are actually common, but they have a high mortality rate like humans, and if they don't die, their immune system will knock us out. In bats, we can live in equilibrium with their immune system without killing them or getting wiped out.I used to like the colony of bats near my dad's place (actually megabats, Pteropus) and didn't mind that they shat on me a bit. They were just so lively and fun. I wouldn't go anywhere near them now. I wouldn't be surprised if a ranger has poisened them all (actually I don't want to know).
I hope they didn't poison them... Bats are cool.

Hopes of getting an antiviral drug to treat Covid-19 took a knock after remdesivir reportedly failed in its first randomised clinical trial.
A Chinese trial showed the drug had not been successful, according to draft documents accidentally published by the World Health Organization.
However, the US firm behind the drug, Gilead Sciences, said the documents had mischaracterised the study.

This does not spell the end of the road for the drug, however, and several continuing trials will soon provide a clearer picture on the drug's use.

Further doubt is thrown over China's official corona figures. Not really an unsubstantiated "conspiracy theory", it seems. The new estimates come amid a mounting clamour for an international inquiry into the coronavirus outbreak’s origins, led by the United States and Australia, although the estimates appear far from constituting the proof of a coverup sought by some on the political right. The US and Australia have called for an international investigation into the handling of the outbreak.
Lengthy anti-left-wing rant spoilered. So am I "right-wing" now for believing China covered up the virus in its early weeks to save face and for supporting this long-overdue inquiry? Why have the Guardian and everyone on the political left suddenly decided to politicize everything and throw Chinese, Hong Kongers, Taiwanese and the rest of the world under the fucking bus just because the countries leading the charge happen to be led by right-wing governments, not realizing that China itself is led by a far-right, totalitarian fascist regime that typically COVERS THINGS UP because that's what closed, authoritarian regimes do? Why can't everyone just speak with one voice like they used to and tell the CCP to stop messing around with human lives and livelihoods and profiting off of our collective misery by selling face masks and other essential medical equipment like the fucking loan sharks that they are?
When leftists were demonstrating in support of Hong Kong last year, I thought we finally had something in common, namely our shared hatred of China and its totalitarian ways, and at least a basic love of freedom and democracy. To see them and their establishment media mouthpieces suddenly downplaying or literally parroting the CCP's shameless gaslighting and propaganda about the coronavirus and outright dismissing Tedros and the WHO's alleged pro-China bias over the past month or so is nothing short of naked betrayal and pure CCP apologism. Now they accuse critics of China of "spreading unfounded, xenophobic conspiracy theories" and "dangerous coronavirus misinformation", which is ironic given that the most ardent critics of China are often Chinese themselves. This may be partly due to the fact that Trump himself is a fierce critic of the CCP, which would make the Left's response absolutely petty and vindictive at best and downright evil at worst.
It wouldn't be the first time leftists have apologized for literal fascists while accusing critics of said fascists of being fascists themselves. They've already betrayed non-Muslim minorities and critics of Islam (I am both of these) for many years and placed the religion of Islam totally above any kind of reproach just to score cheap political points against their right-wing "racist", "Islamophobic" and "fascist" opponents. They have also betrayed Jews around the world by befriending terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah and demonizing Israel and its supporters as racists, Islamophobes and fascists. This sudden tiptoeing around China and the WHO because "muh racist conspiracy theories" is just the latest addition to the Left's growing list of unforgivable betrayals of some of the very peoples they once regarded as victims of social and political injustice.
Trump may have a poor handle over the coronavirus domestically, but I'm totally with him and his Australian allies on the foreign policy front. Now that Australia has become the first major Western country to flatten the curve (NZ is too small and remote to be counted), it's up to them to lead the international response and investigate China until North America, Japan and Europe are able to recover. As for those world "leaders" on their moral high horses lecturing to everyone about not pointing fingers, how would they like it if I burned their house down and then told them "let's not point fingers, we should work together to repair the damage"?
