And uhhh, what if you get to the gym and everyone’s on the equipment, and you have to wait? Are you gonna scream about how your rights are being stomped-on? This is devolving really into petty whining over not getting to do what you want.

Is that what I said? No. Some here are suggesting that all public places become by appointment

No, it’s what I said. You did say, however, that you should be able to go to the store or gym whenever you want, and nobody should be able to prevent you. The thing is, though, that even during normal times, not everyone gets to just go to the gym or mall whenever they want. During normal times, most people work and have to pick a time that works best. And if you’re in school, you don’t get to go to the mall just whenever either. Public places being open by appointment will prevent people from getting crowded and sick. You have to adapt.

And how are you going to enforce mall appointments? Why don’t we make leaving your house at all by appointment?

It’s really not. The mall is open and you can go shopping, but because it’s really hard to do social distancing even if you’re in a big mall, it will help maintain order and will probably make the experience less stressful. You get your appointed time to go, you shop for a couple hours, you get what you want or need, you come home. And you have just enough time to eat, lounge, and think about how you wanna do the rest of your day. Sounds manageable to me.

And that attitude is why Tennessee and Florida are about to see a shockwave of COVID cases, cause they thought closing everything down was a stupid idea.

You're so unimaginative. You keep fielding the same three problems and folks keep giving you solutions to said problems or explanations as to why they're not actually problems, to which you decry them for being ridiculous.

The only thing not ridiculous to you would be a complete return to normalcy without regard for possible long-term human cost, which is the only ridiculous premise here.

Plus the mall is honestly better when it’s not crowded. Ever gone to the mall on Black Friday? Never again.

Great so don’t leave until there is a cure or vaccine. The notion of an appointment to go the gym, mall/store or bar is flat out ludicrous. How would you even enforce mall/store appointments anyway? I don’t think many would take kindly but I’m sure you and others will say yes they would

Very simple. Have bouncers there and require people show a pass or something showing they scheduled an appointment.

Stores and services can help you make online appointments. They can make webpages where the person signs-up and gets added to a list of people coming at that time. They can keep track of who is coming in and who is coming out, and how long they are in the store. People can get jobs managing those numbers, and still get paid by the companies. It’s not comfortable, but it might be necessary.

Why?

I would imagine that all shops stay closed and all shopping would be done online/ by telephone. The military will be deployed to deliver all packages and the postal service will be expanded.
