Clearly they're a person with feelings and thoughts and they deserve their basic rights. The prostitutes aren't worthless, nor are they only worth the price people pay them. It's a disgrace that some people think that is their worth alone.

Unfortunately yes, which is why my workplace is one of the most dangerous places in the county and should be anything but, and why when a customer bitches us out over stupid crap and we stand up for ourselves, corporate gets far angrier at us than at the troublesome customer.

If I'm interpreting the OP correctly, I would still be filthy rich even if I give 99% (maybe even 99.9%) of my wealth away, whether to friends and family or to the betterment of humanity. In which case I would still need to deal with the consequences of foregoing guaranteed true love for a possibly tumultuous and drama-filled personal life.

Maybe I'm still reeling from the aftershock of Parasite (which I saw last weekend), or maybe I'm too firm a believer in Disney fairytales.

It's not the worst thing to live without a romantic relationship especially when you realize that God loves you more than anyone is capable. If I had $100 billion to give to the church I would do it in a heartbeat. No one needs all of that money individually, and to hoard all of that would make it extremely difficult to get into heaven.

I would find this more comforting if I were a believer, kuya. (Guessing from your posts in this thread that you may be Filipino). But I'd be more likely to pick the money if the conditions in the OP were phrased differently.

I thought about this for a few days. Ultimately, the reason I'd give $100 billion dollars to Opus Dei is because I sincerely believe it be the work of God.

Because I have an obligation to the Lord, to give to Opus Dei is to give to the Lord.

Do you think that people need your particular religion more than healthcare, education, disaster relief, etc?

Absolutely, but that isn't to denigrate material development. I just think that there's no point in being wealthy or prosperous without God at the center.

What if people, themselves, would rather have material human development index from you, instead of more of your favorite religion? Would it be better to give them what they want and materially need, than to give them what they do not want but which you think they immaterially need?

I want the poorest of the poor to live prosperous and high quality lives. As a Catholic, I have that obligation to them because when we pass by the least amongst us, we pass by Christ himself. However, providing material goods without Catholicism is a recipe for disaster.

This is because material prosperity is not an end to itself, but a means the end that is sanctification. Wealth is not supposed to be the center of our existence.
