Right handed, clockwise, and it literally has never occurred to me that someone would do it another way.

To me anti-clockwise (left from the front) is the natural and unquestionable way. Clockwise seems "backhanded": pulling the belt into the first loop to the right, rather than pushing it into the first loop to the left. At some point you have to push not pull, why not start with the push?

I do however switch to my left hand when the belt gets out of reach for my right. I presume that is normal?

Surely it's easier to start with one's dominant hand? For someone who's right handed, that implies clockwise.

So people put their trousers on and then try and thread their belt through the loops? That hadn't occurred to me either. It's hell of a lot easier to thread the belt first.

Kind of like the people I see start driving out of their driveway while putting on their seat belt. Why the hell do it that way?

Are we talking about the same thing? If your waist is a clock dial and you're looking down on it, clockwise is to the right at the front.

Counter-clockwise, right handed. The buckle belongs to the left side of the trousers.

Pretty sure, yeah.

Put the, er, pointy bit/non-buckle end in the first loop to the right, push/pull it through using the dominant (i.e. right hand) 12, 1, 2, 3 etc. etc., get about half-way through, unbunch, push/pull it through the left side 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and do it up. This also means the dominant/more dextrous hand is on the same side as the buckle itself.

As I said I don't wear belts all that often so I'm not sure at which points I'm pushing and/or pulling, but that's definitely clockwise and I'm very right handed.

But which way 'round? In the end, once the pants are on, you still have to fasten the belt. I like having the buckle in my dominant hand, as it's much better at finagling that small piece of metal through the little hole.

Right-handed.

Start at the left, loop it counter-clockwise buckleless end first.

As I said I don't wear belts all that often so I'm not sure at which points I'm pushing and/or pulling, but that's definitely clockwise and I'm very right handed.

I'd say it's more logical to do it the opposite way, so that way when you buckle/unbuckle it your dominant hand is pulling it taut/threading it through the buckle while your non-dominant hand just holds the buckle steady.
