I wonder what the reaction would be to a completely blue Washington. We saw the reaction to a red Washington in the massive wave of protests in 2017, so it’s interesting to see if the Republican base will be as fired up and angry as the Democrats were after 2016

Democratic protests are generally spontaneous, because Democrats tend to live in the city. Republican protests are usually organized and planned out in advance, since many protestors have to come from rural areas, like the Richmond protest earlier this year

Biden will meet with George Floyd's Family in person on Monday. While he won't be able to attend the actual funeral, he is expected to offer his sympathies to the family and record a video message for the private funeral service scheduled to take place on Tuesday. This will be first time since early March that Biden went beyond Delaware/Philadelphia.

This is honestly a good move: it shows he cares and at the very least, is making an effort to voters. It also shows we can suspect Biden to travel more across the country to campaign as lockdowns ease up though I suspect they'll take precautions.

Also, Mitt Romney was spotted in a Black Lives Matter march in D.C. In all, it kind of shows a huge difference from Trump's approach: he can't be bothered.

Let me throw this in: Biden's in one of the best positions for any challenger since scientific polling began

Keep in mind that Trump is a terrible inter-party politician, certainly one of the worst in American history. But OTOH Trump has become an extraordinary intraparty politician, one of the best in American history. This is how an incumbent president can be very popular with members of his own party and yet be the first POTUS in the history of polling to never reach 50 percent viewtopic.php?f=20&t=482528&p=37244881#p37244881approval in any major national poll. Everything is breaking as a red or blue issue including police support. All of this leads me to believe there will be little (if any) shifting in the current polls right up to election day.

I agree that it's very unlikely we will see any shift in the current polls through election day.

The big question is whether the MOE for these polls allows Trump to win or Biden to win, and, assuming it's the case that both are true, where the noise will bring us.

Right now Trump is losing in these averaged polls outside the average margin of error. But yes, that does make it narrower. However, it's much better to be on top since January 2019 as Joe Biden is than in the hole Trump's dug for himself.

It remains to be seen whether Mitt Romney can live up to George Romney's legacy. So far, he still has a long way to go with that.

If trump does manage to defund the post office by November, do Americans have any real way of pushing back to make sure our vote is counted?

Politically it's a terrible move.
Listen man, old people love their precious snail mail. If Donny did that then seniors will overwhelmingly vote against his ass in November - assuring a huge win for Biden in both popular vote and electorally. It's a death wish.

It's also terrible for his rural constituents, considering FedEx and UPS don't want to go in rural Wyoming to deliver packages since those routes don't make them money.

Maybe there's a microscopic, barely existent semblance of Trump that wanted to lose in 2016 as a Producers-style stunt for Trump News Network doing whatever it takes to sink his Presidency like the Graf Spee.

While it's still early and certainly Trump could change his fortunes, Michigan is one of those States I do not see Trump winning again. For sure, Trump can win without Michigan, but his path does become harder. The bigger questions become, can Trump again win the likes of PA or Florida? Because if not, then his chances of winning dwindle bigly. After all, if Biden replicates what Clinton did in 2016, but also wins MI, PA, and AZ, Biden becomes the next President.

Thermodolia wrote:

Those are more of a toss-up in terms of the Senate races though Iowa we'll need to see more polling on and NC is honestly a pure tossup despite Cunningham leading somewhat.
