An audit of thousands of old case files by Ukrainian prosecutors found no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of Hunter Biden, the former prosecutor general, who had launched the audit, told Reuters.

Well, that's going to put a damper on Republicans for at least Hunter Biden. Unless they uncover something new, this is a dead horse.

So when does Trump call on the Russians to release the real files?

Biden says an unspecified 10 to 15 percent of Americans are "not very nice people"

Not sure how to interpret this, but he should avoid making the "deplorables" mistake like Hillary. Going into the rust belt and telling the people there that opportunities at getting jobs won’t be coming is not a great way to win.

He most certainly should though this "10-15%" remark is cast across the general population, not to a specific group of people so I can see him skating by more freely though Fox is surely bitching about it despite that network pushing the narrative of "all Democrats are bad". Eh, at this point, given the stupid remarks Trump has made, I would believe people would have become numbed by now and thus, probably won't care what dumb things Biden says.

Hillary's only mistake was in trying to walk it back, and Bidens is lowballing it.

It's a tiresome game conservatives play. You can tune into any conservative media and listen to conservative pundits and politicians ranting all day about how the half of the country that doesn't share their politics are lazy criminal terrorist loving America hating communist traitors, but as soon as a Democrat suggests that there may still be some racist assholes around the same conservatives clutch their pearls and wail about hateful liberal elitists looking down on poor innocent conservatives who, being the good Christians that they are, have never had anything but love and understanding for their fellow man!

Then the Democrat inevitably apologizes, to which the conservative response is to rant about how they don't really mean it and the fact that they apologized at all proves they knew how awful and wrong it was.

Hopefully Biden doesn't fall into the trap.

I feel like we're here a lot. Like in the summer or spring we start talking about Texas going purple or becoming a swing state and then when November comes along they still go hard for the Republican.

I guess the next step is for me to use the googlnator and see if that's really true or if it has been slowly making its way toward purple...

sigh...be right back I guess...

I couldn't find polling as it evolved and then got tired and distracted. I did see that Clinton beat the RCP average by 2 points but still lost by 9. I don't know where she was in June.

Anyway, I don't expect it to flip this year, but it should put the GOP on their heels.

I agree. Unless something catastrophic happens to Trump, and in a bad way that damages his standing among the country, I don't see him losing Iowa, or for that matter Texas. That said, if Biden can keep it within 5 points, there's hope for Democrats that the State is slowly becoming purple.

We have to keep in mind that more and more people are moving to the South and South West (Sun Belt). Places like Florida and Texas will see their electoral college numbers increase (Texas 41; Florida 31) while places like the Midwest continue to decline population wise (OH, PA, and MI are losing one electoral). With that move of people means two things: the Midwest may become more Conservative while the Sun Belt becomes a swingish area. We can suspect places like Arizona and Georgia could become swing States with the possibility of Texas as well; Florida may actually trend more red though.

It certainly helps he's on par with younger Americans and doing better with older ones than Clinton but he can't take this for granted. If Biden can increase turnout from young people and siphon off more older Americans, he can win. Of course, we're 5 months away so his standing could either fall, rise, or remain the same. With the economy seemingly improving, I suspect some voters will go back to Trump as of now.

The simpler explanation for the masses... Lately Biden has been choosing his words wisely while Trump has talked stupid. Voters hear it and don't really want that much to be with stupid.

Expect Texas to be lean to likely R and Georgia to be lean R. They are trending more and more towards toss-up status, so they'll be ones to watch in the coming years.

Watching Biden give a speech right now. I feel like we all thought we were going to get feisty Biden, funny angry grandpa Biden, but because of circumstances we're getting somber empathetic Biden and I gotta say it might be working for him.

Last winter when Biden was asked if he'd beat Trump, the feisty Biden said "Just watch me." The dude definitely knows what he's doing and he's starting to smell a win.

I had been looking forward to the Biden dismissive 'this fucking guy' laugh at the debates, but this quiet voice weight of the situation Biden is so much better. Imagine how low the bar has gotten that simply acknowledging someone's suffering is such a stark contrast. In reality Biden is kind of doing the bare minimum, treating people's anger and anxiety seriously, and it feels like he's hitting it out of the park.

Yeah this happens literally every cycle since Obama’s first election. It’s way too early, and so much changes in September and October that it can be wild. In particular, October, the month before the election, is usually when long lost tapes of candidates doing weird shit magically surface
