The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

The most fundamental problem of politics is not the control of wickedness but the limitation of righteousness.

Two days ago a couple fellows tried to knock off a sandwich shop in our neighborhood, entering through the open back door and brandishing a gun. The owner, a Vietnamese-American, was shot and injured in the hand and torso (he's in stable condition and expected to recover). Two people set up a GoFundMe which exceeded its combined goal of $20k within the day.

We're not going to control the pandemic!

It is a slaughter and not just a political dispute.

Well...the shooting is not happy, but I’m glad people are coming together to help the owner. Hopefully he recovers quickly and is able to work again soon. He seems to be well-loved.

These little ones will make you smile, too. My little ones didn't groom themselves as thoroughly and were less appreciative of being petted on their heads. :)

Nope,the cat absolutely adores the plastic creaky toy... at least that's what the neighbours cats tell me. As soon as they heard the crinkle of the shopping bags, they would get wild and start circling the legs to get to the bags.

This post on Facebook made me very happy;

I took a pole, and I found that 100% of the people were angry when the tent collapsed...

Last Thursday, my youngest had made a gift for "fathers day" they told me to hide it, daddy isn't allowed to see this!

So this morning I told my youngest: let's give daddy his present.

They: No! It has to be hidden, Daddy cannot see it. It isn't allowed, the teacher said so!!

A wonderful story about the Sebasticook and Kennebec Rivers in central Maine having been restored to their natural state after two dams were removed. It’s part of a trend across the country

many dams are aging and they also harm the ecosystem of the river

Often they are used for power or irrigation

I do not know but I assure you no ones power was switched off. Some Dams are used for flood control, industrial use, aquaculture, and navigability.

If no power was switched off, then the dam was worthless. No?
